May 1, 2013

Good afternoon, happy May, & holy crap I'm tired! Yesterday was a very busy day & as a result I didn't get too many scheduled items in. Frustrating because there were things I needed to do & all the crafting I wanted to do. That makes 2 days now of backup & missed crafting ... each craft only gets 1 hour per week, so if I miss it, it's a long wait until it comes around again. I started off yesterday already missing machine knitting & quilt crocheting from the day before & was hoping to have extra time to maybe get one or both of those in. Nope, in fact I didn't get yesterday's 2 crafts in either (mandala crochet & Ravelry), so now that's 4 missed in 2 days. How sad when you don't have the time to do the things you enjoy & that bring you happiness & relaxation. As I always say ... "maybe tomorrow." I'd have that put on my grave, but that wouldn't make much sense. Maybe
my gravestone will say "Ran out of tomorrows." OK, that's depressing ... next subject. I made a cheese omelet for Pete for breakfast before he left for work yesterday, got the mail, chatted w/ Pete on the phone, paid bills, cleaned the house, chatted w/ Pete on the phone again, chatted w/ Kyle on the phone, found out Kyle broke my weather station (&^$%#%!!!), surfed eBay, checked facebook & took my
game turns, chatted w/ Andrew on the phone, Pete & his mom both called before I blogged yesterday ... I was popular. So popular that my cell phone battery almost died before the day was over. The LCFD had their 5th Tuesday Social. I did manage to get some time on the Inkle Loom & finished the project I had on there. It's a warm & beautiful scarf. I started a new project that will most likely be a belt when it's done. It's coming along nicely so far & I like the colors. My Sims game from yesterday was Rhone Ridge. My Sim Mike went to bed, then got up & cleaned the house, showered, had dinner, & headed back to bed. The next morning Mike showered, had breakfast, & went to his 1st day of school where he met Susie Broke. He went home, did his homework, ate dinner, cleaned the house, & went to bed. It's May! I'm hoping to catch up on machine knitting, quilt crocheting, mandala crocheting, & Ravelry today. I took the dogs out & the big news of the day is that I'm currently downloading University Life! WOOHOO! Now I get to see a side of life that I've never seen, I get to live the University Life vicariously through my Sims. New traits, new jobs, new clothing, new opportunities, new socials, new everything! Tomorrow's Sims game will be the 1st of the University Life games. I wonder though how long it'll be before I actually have a Sim graduate high school during my game so I can GO to the University & what will this do to my aging sequence? Does it add an age group or is it part of being a young adult? So much I'll learn tomorrow & the 1st time I have a Sim graduate high school. I can't wait! I chatted w/ Pete on the phone & checked my banking for the week. My Sims game for the day is a new one called Beechwood Victorian (2nd pic). A nice & very affordable home built by a talented other. My Sim is Liz. A clumsy, equestrian w/ commitment issues who's absent-minded & shy. She's a gold digger who likes waffles, custom music, & the color black. She's a Pisces. Her furry companion is an English Springer Spaniel named Xanadu who's proud, neat, & a genius. The 1st thing Liz did was buy an easel & work on her painting skill, then bought a laptop & worked on her writing skill, then spent time w/ Xanadu. This game started off in the summer. The LCFD will be serving hamburgers at the Jimmy Buffet concert in Frisco this Saturday. If you have tickets to this event, find us & come say hello (& buy a burger). :)

Australian trumpet snail is so large - they can measure up to 30" long - that indigenous people use it as a water carrier.

Clean windows on overcast days rather than sunshiny days. This way, windows dry more slowly, helping eliminate streaks.

Do you remember your high school prom? I was harkening back today - I get in a nostalgic mood & I was doing a lot of harkening - back to my youth in the plains of Nebraska & I learned very early in life, life isn't always what it seems to be. Prom night. Went to pick up my date, Gina Statutory. Pinned the corsage on her chest, it deflated. Who knew?

Eating regular meals helps keep your fat-burning metabolism stoked & cravings under control. Need proof? The National Weight Control Registry - a research project that tracks 10,000 people who have lost at least 30 lbs. & kept them off - found that about 80% of successful dieters eat breakfast every day.

Future is where you'll spend the rest of your life. It's like my uncle used to say when he was filing the serial numbers off the new VCR he "found." "Hey, see if you can connect this co-ax to the neighbors cable box. Now!"
