Sims 3 Seasons (Winter!)

Kyle cooked & fed me lunch yesterday which was a great time-saver & tasted SO good. Thank you Kyle! A little while later I was still hungry, but not a LOT, so I made an egg & had breakfast for dinner (& thanks to Josh buying me a cheeseburger before all of this earlier in the day, I had lunch for breakfast). OK, let me get this straight ... I had lunch for breakfast, dinner for lunch, & breakfast for dinner. Hey, at least I had 3 meals, even though they WERE all mixed
up. I got a bunch of housework done, changed out the shower curtain, dusted the dining room blinds, cleaned out all the small kitchen appliances, did the laundry, & swept the kitchen. Then I checked eBay & finished the final panel of the afghan on the knitting machine. It's beautiful so far! All I have left is crocheting a border on the top & bottom. I finished by checking Twitter & then watched Big Bang & 2½ Men with Pete & headed off to bed. This
morning I finished LizC864 11 by completing the media room. The lot is now uploaded to TS3 Exchange & is awaiting your download & recommendation (hint hint). ;) The next house I'll build will be called Worthington. I then loaded up one of my favorite lots, Modern Mediterranean, created by a very talented other. This is one of the FULL houses & you can read more about it in a previous post. 8 Sims, 2 cats, & we're FULL. I started this game today in the winter. All I
haven't seen so far is Spring which is the next time I play. The game started out with 25° at 8:p. We have holiday lights on the house & so do all the neighbors. It looks SO pretty! You have a choice of colors & you also can choose between string lights or icicle lights. I have string lights & the icicles are real, not lights. There are a lot of snow days (no school). My teen, who is only a teen for 4 days due to my settings, never went to high school at ALL. She aged
up into a teen, we had a weekend & then snow days & bam, she turned into a young adult without EVER seeing the high school. Due to her indifferent study habits (She was a C student which is the default that you go into grade school or high school with on your 1st day), I was unable to choose a trait for her. The game was nice to me though & gave her the Genius trait, which made her perfect for the Special Agent: International Super Spy career. She was also athletic &
you need athletic & logic for that one. At home in the winter you can make snow angels, build snowmen, build igloos, & have snowball fights. At the winter festival you can sit by the fire pit, go ice skating, learn snowboarding, have snowball fights & then enjoy the festival staples such as the concession stand, photo booth, & face painting. You can skill up on ice skating quickly, but snowboarding took me DAYS of repeatedly going back & practicing over &
over before I increased to the 1st level. Again, this is why I made the seasons 25 days long each. Some things take time & if the seasons go by to quickly, you find yourself only trying each thing once in between work &/or school & then you're onto the next season already. This is much more realistic. You have 3 or 4 weekends to enjoy the current season & master all you want, play, & have fun. When my teen aged up to a young adult, I had to kick out 2
people so there's room for her to get married & have a child. This is important because if you don't perpetuate the species ... well, the game ends. Eventually everyone grows old & dies. You need new generations! Her boyfriend is still in school, so I had to make a note that when I play next, she still needs to marry & have a child once he ages up. The younger child in the house still needs to meet someone in school. So far the only people she knows,
she's related to. That won't work for perpetuating the species. :) So I made a note that she still needs to meet someone. Game time was over when it was time to pick up Josh from work. Now it's blog time & then onto my regular routine around the house. Maintenance Tuesday.

1st Harry Potter film opens (2001):
On this day in 2001, the British author J.K. Rowling’s star creation--bespectacled boy

wizard Harry Potter--makes his big-screen debut in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, which opens in movie theaters across the United States. Based on the mega-best-selling fantasy novel of the same name, the film, which starred Daniel Radcliffe in the title role, went on to become one of the highest-grossing movies in history.
The first Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, debuted in
Great Britain in 1997 and was released in the United States the following year under the name Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Children and adults alike were captivated by the story of Harry, his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, their adventures at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and Harry’s struggles against his main enemy, the evil Lord Voldemort.
Rowling, who was born in England in 1965,
1st got the idea for Harry Potter while she was riding a train from Manchester to London in 1990. She began writing the first book that night and finished it while living in Edinburgh, Scotland, where she struggled financially as a single mother and battled depression. Her completed manuscript was turned down by a number of publishers before she got a book deal with Bloomsbury Publishing in August 1996. Rowling went on to pen a total of seven Harry Potter novels,
all of which became international blockbusters, selling more than 400 million copies and being translated into some 60 languages in all. The books also spawned a series of movies, video games and other merchandise that made Rowling one of the wealthiest people in the entertainment industry.
The first Harry Potter film was directed by the American filmmaker Chris Columbus, whose previous credits included Home Alone and Mrs. Doubtfire. Prior to being selected to play Harry, Daniel Radcliffe, who was born July 23, 1989, in London, had appeared in a BBC production of David Copperfield as well as the 2001 film The Tailor of Panama, which starred Pierce Brosnan. British actors Rupert Grint and Emma Watson were chosen for the roles of Harry’s friends Ron and Hermione. A roster of celebrated actors took supporting roles in the film and its various sequels, including Ralph Fiennes, Maggie Smith, Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, Richard Harris and Gary Oldman.
Columbus also directed the second Potter film, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, which was released in 2002. The Mexican director Alfonso Cuaron helmed the third film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which arrived in theaters in 2004. The fourth film, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, was directed by Mike Newell and debuted in 2005, while 2007 saw the release of the fifth film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, helmed by David Yates. The sixth Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, also directed by Yates, is scheduled to open in 2009. The seventh and final (according to Rowling’s predetermined plan) novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, debuted in U.S. bookstores on July 21, 2007. Like all the previous Potter books, it is slated to become a movie, to be released in two parts in 2010 and 2011. To date, the Harry Potter films are the most financially successful series in history, having surpassed both the Star Wars and James Bond franchises.

Eat a bowl of oatmeal. Carbs help you produce serotonin, a feel-good brain chemical. And it's high in fiber, so your body will absorb it slowly, prolonging the boost.

If you asked a handful of successful, small business owners how many of them found or used government grants to start their business, very few would raise their hands. You can apply for 2 or 3 or 20 of them, but I would advise instead that you start small. Begin the business from your home, if possible. You don't have to bust out at the start & create big expenditures to start a small business.

If you're not enjoying yourself at a party, how soon can you leave without seeming rude?
If it's a large cocktail party or reception, it's okay to leave after staying for roughly an hour. If it's a dinner party, you should stay through dinner, since your host has set a place for you & gone to the trouble of preparing the meal. Then, once dinner is over, try not to eat & run; stay for another hour or a little less. If you do leave a dinner party early, make sure to thank your host & try to offer an honest explanation for your early departure, such as a need to relieve your kids' babysitter or you have a long drive home.

If your stove hood is metal, use a magnet to attach the recipe you're making. This brings the recipe to eye level making it easy to read & prevents spills on your recipe card or print out.

Vibrissa:
1: 1 of the stiff hairs that are located about the nostrils in many mammals. 2: 1 of the bristly feathers near the mouth of many birds.
The manatee's prehensile lips are studded with vibrissae that it uses to discriminate between food plants & to manipulate those plants.
The whiskers of a cat qualify as vibrissae (that's the plural of "vibrissa"), as do the hairlike feathers around the bills of some birds - especially the insect-feeding kind. And when scientists 1st used "vibrissa" in the late 17th century, they referred specifically to the hairs inside the human nostril. Science got this word, as it has many others, from Latin. "Vibrissa" comes from vibrare, which means all of the following: "to brandish," "to wave," "to rock," & "to propel suddenly." Other vibrare descendents in English include "vibrate," "vibrato," & "veer."
