★ Election Day 2012 ★

Happy Election Day! Make it count, get out there & vote if you haven't already. I did. I got a lot of housecleaning done yesterday. I picked up the laundry off the bathroom floor, Windexed the bathroom mirror, fed the cats & dogs, de-cob webbed the dining room walls & wall decor, finished up the laundry, watered the living room plant, cleaned the top of my office desk, & swept the entryway. After that I checked eBay & then crawled into my massage chair &
played 5 Card Slingo while working the stress out of my back & legs. I finished up a panel on the knitting machine & then checked the mail & Twitter, & then cleared out my AOL e-mail.  Then it was Sims time! I worked on the master bedroom of LizC864 11 which now completes the main floor with the exception of the large back deck which I'll work on next. After that I loaded up one of my most difficult games, Bentbrook Farm. This is a large house that
sits on a 60 X 60 lot & has not a garden in the back, but a full blown farm. It takes literally a FULL house to run this farm, full time, 7 days a week. The last time I played this house I lost a lot of the crops due to not being able to keep up with them. The same will happen here until I can get several generations into the game & have more people living in the house & working the fields. My 1st generation Sims are Elizabeth & Orlando. They're both
eco-friendly, have a green thumb, & love the outdoors. 3 traits needed for this game. Both have a lifetime wish of the perfect garden. After that, Elizabeth is lucky & flirty, likes falafel, custom music, & hot pink. She's a Cancer. Orlando is an artistic kleptomaniac who likes lobster thermidore, custom music, & the color orange. He's an Aquarius. Their 2 cats are Xoco & Tony, an Egyptian Mau & a Ragdoll. Both are agressive, Xoco is shy & Tony is hyper.  The farm consists of 25 different plants in a total of 25 rows. Each row is 37 deep with the exception of trees which are only about half because of their size. From left to right, the rows consist of: Apple trees, bell pepper plants, death flower plants, flame fruit, garlic, grapevine, lettuce, life fruit, lime, money tree, Omni plant, onion, potato, tomato, watermelon, Avornalino grape, Cherimola grape, cherry tree, Granerlet Nuala grape, Gralladina grape, Meloire grape, plum tree, pomegranate, Pomelo, & finally Renoit grapes. I didn't have time to play at all though. The last time I started Bentbrook Farm, I managed to write Bentbrook Farm on a piece of paper & that was it, I never even had a chance to place the house. Last night I managed to place the house & create it's Sims, but that was it. I wanted to make sure Elizabeth was pregnant before I saved the game so I didn't forget the next time I loaded it up. I need EVERY Sim I can get working this farm & getting pregnant before anything is important. For some reason it didn't take the 1st, 2nd, 3rd ... time. It took many tries. Those poor Sims were woohooing for hours. LOL! As soon as I heard the tones play meaning they conceived, I saved & closed the game. No Sims will ever work outside the home in this game, there's no time with this size of a farm, so that's why it's the ONLY game that I create TWO Sims ... otherwise the one Sim would never meet anyone unless they logged onto the computer & met them online & that takes time from farming. As it is I lost almost an entire day watching them try to conceive. After the game Pete & I went out to dinner at a Chinese buffet, then went to Half Price Books (one of my favorite stores!) where I bought a couple more calendars & a very large & heavy book called Prehospital Emergency Care which is a book for EMTs mostly, but still very useful for me. We came home, watched a little TV & headed off to bed. Don't forget to get out there & VOTE!

3 important rules for investing:
  1. Don't put money into anything you don't understand.
  2. Go slow. Be willing to wait until you're comfortable making the investment.

How old must a person be to serve as a U.S. congressman? How about as a senator?

Laodicean:
Lukewarm or indifferent in religion or politics.
Evan lamented the Laodicean attitude of his fellow citizens, as evidenced by the low voter turnout on Election Day.
English-speakers owe the word "Laodicean" to chapter 3, verses 15 & 16 of the Book of Revelation, in which the church or Laodicea is admonished for being "neither cold nor hot, ... neither one nor the other, but just lukewarm" in its devotion. By 1633, the name of that tepid biblical church had become a general term for any half-hearted or irresolute follower of a religious faith. Since then, the word's use has broadened to cover flimsy political devotion as well. For example, in comparing U.S. presidents, journalist Samuel Hopkins Adams compared "the fiery & aggressive [Theodore] Roosevelt" to "the timorous Laodicean [Warren] Harding."

Place your hands on your shoulders, elbows close to your body. Inhale & bring elbows up as far as possible, stretching your head back. Exhale as you return elbows to start position. Repeat several times.

President Clinton designates "Automobile National Heritage Area" in Detroit (1998):
On November 6, 1998, President Bill Clinton declares that part of Detroit will become an "Automobile National Heritage Area." The designation restricted land use and drew attention to what Michigan Congressman John Dingell called "the automobile's contribution to our history and economic strength and the role of organized labor in that history."
The area, the 18th of 40 National Heritage Areas in the U.S., has been renamed the MotorCities National Heritage Area. The Heritage region covers 10,000 square miles and is home to more than 6 million people. "Not just 'Any Place, USA' can be a National Heritage Area," the National Park Service notes. "It requires a unique story that is important to the heritage of America and an act of Congress to become a National Heritage Area. It encourages residents and visitors to recognize, celebrate, and share with others that they are part of a region where great things happened and continue to happen in ways that shape and mol d America."
There are almost 1,200 auto-related sites in the region, more than any other place in the world. These include the Ford world headquarters in Dearborn, the childhood home of the groundbreaking automaker Preston Tucker, several classic-car museums, old union halls and iconic bars, and countless factories, machine shops and assembly plants for all kinds of cars and trucks.
