I kicked off yesterday like most days. Skipped breakfast & went straight onto getting the house cleaned up. Cleaned the bathroom sink, dusted the bedroom lights, fed the cats & dogs, watered the plant in the dining room, cleaned all the small appliances in the kitchen inside & out, cleared & neatened the coffee table, dusted off my office chairs, & swept the kitchen. After that I sat down & checked eBay & my horoscope (always amusing), had lunch at noon again (woohoo!) & then knitted another panel on the knitting machine. Checked Twitter & the mail & then the App Store. No, not the Apple iTunes App Store, the Win8 App Store! A lot of familiar apps in there, but what I really needed was just a simple clock for my Win8 desktop since they didn't have one standard. It's nice to know what time it is without wearing out the
button on my phone to keep checking it there. Now I've got the time & date on my Win8 desktop (finally). Then it was Sims time. I added the 2nd story over the entryway & it looks pretty nice. I'm STILL wondering how you change a light bulb in the ceiling light way up there IRL. How do you dust? It looks cool, but I don't want to have to call a FD with a ladder truck every time I dust or a light blows. LOL! I loaded up my criminal game & they live in
Bridgeport in a 1 bedroom apartment which was fine in the beginning of the game, but now that we have 3 generations it getting a little crowded in there. I had to rearrange the bedroom to fit a 2nd double bed in there & now with the 3rd generation, I had to sell the grand piano to make room for a double bed out in the living room, too. It still looks nice, but sheesh! All those Sims in a 1 bedroom apartment with only ONE bathroom isn't easy. SOMEONE is always
late for school or work because they're waiting for their turn in the bathroom. No shower means taking much longer to bathe before work or school. I didn't swap it out because it TRY to leave the place as it was originally designed with the exception of adding beds, a crib, & other needed items like a chess table & exercise equipment needed for this career. This is the game where my 1st gen Sim married a vampire, Vladimir Schlick. He mysteriously died one
night & I never did figure out why. He was doing so well & then he just died. He wasn't even old. My Sim was either pregnant at the time or had just given birth, so she took his remains to the Science Facility to bring him back, which they only half do. He was part of the family again, but still a ghost. It was weird. Over time, they started hating each other. When a fight broke out between them (physical), I kicked him out of the household. My 1st gen Sim is now elderly & is on borrowed time. I'm surprised she's still alive, the game usually sends the grim reaper at 90 days, but she's up to 93 or so now. Sweet! Her son Quinn Schlick married Seraphina Prattle & they had a daughter Renesmee (3rd gen). Renesmee has all the same 4 useful traits for the family profession; Athletic, evil, genius, & kleptomaniac. She's also a Libra who likes Egyptian music, egg rolls, & the color purple. Her final trait, the one random one, hasn't been given yet because she's only in high school. She met Oscar Wolfe & FINALLY someone who isn't homeless joins the family. Not only is he not a homeless service Sim, but he's rich. He lives in a nice house on the south edge of town, over the bridge & out of the city. When they marry, we're all moving out of this tiny 1 bedroom 1 bath apartment. Phew! Back IRL, Pete called on his way home & offered to take me out to dinner. We went to Applebees & had a great dinner, came home & watched Chicago Fire, & then went to bed pretty late. I was exhausted, which was nice because I was able to fall asleep fast. Once I did fall asleep, I was out cold. I barely remember hearing my phone go off with an FD page. I rolled over, looked at the phone, realized I wasn't hearing anything on the radio, & then realized the battery died during the night. I didn't even hear it chirping, that's how out of it I was. I remember changing the battery just in time to hear the dispatch saying something about a MVA on 380 immediately followed by a med call at the other end of town. Simultaneous calls, not good. I heard us catch the county & that's all I remember. I was asleep again, still holding the radio. Glad I didn't roll over on it & key up at some point! It's bad to be THAT tired & that was without any help. No sleeping pills, no NyQuil, just plain exhaustion. Milligan Water meeting Monday.
Before going out to eat, talk to your child. Tell him that he'll be given a menu, the waiter will take his order, & everyone will stay at the table until the meal ends. Select a restaurant with reasonably quick service & a family-friendly atmosphere. When you make a reservation, or before you're seated, tell the hostess or manager that you're dining with kids & would like to be seated near other families, or away from quiet couples. (WOW! There's something you hardly ever see, awesome manners!)

Fact that you can't tell __________ from __________ makes me glad you're not __________.
The storm that would become Hurricane Gordon forms in the Gulf of Mexico
east of Costa Rica on this day in 1994. Although it spent far more time
as a tropical storm than as a hurricane, Gordon went on to kill as many
as a thousand people in Central America, the Caribbean and South Florida.
Immediately
after forming over the western part of the Gulf of Mexico, the storm's
heavy rainfall caused flash flooding in Costa Rica and Nicaragua.
Slowly, it moved east across the Gulf, picking up strength and attaining
status as a tropical storm. By November 13, it reached Jamaica, packing
45 mile-per-hour winds and extremely heavy rains. In just a short time,
Gordon killed two people and caused $50 million dollars in damages.
Next,
Gordon moved on to Haiti, where its torrential rains caused flash
flooding and severe mudslides. The official death toll was 380 people,
but American troops stationed there as part of a peacekeeping operation
believed that the true count was considerably higher.
As the
storm moved toward Florida, it forced NASA (National Aeronautics and
Space Administration) to move a landing of the space shuttle Atlantis to California.
About 500,000 residents of southern Florida lost electrical power
because of Gordon and the region's strawberry crop was virtually wiped
out. Then, as it moved back to sea, Gordon finally reached hurricane
status with 85 mile-per-hour winds.
Hurricane Gordon's strong winds caused a 16-foot storm surge on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
The waves also drowned two fishermen on the Florida coast. The storm
then weakened and moved west again to the Florida coast where it finally
dissipated.
