Good morning! Saturday & Sunday were both good days. :) Saturday I worked on my Daisy Lace Knit, surfed eBay, checked facebook & took my game turns, voted, went to Wal*Mart w/ Pete & stocked up on my favorite yarn; Caron Simply soft, Kyle mowed the lawn, added a background to one of the frames in my daily cleaning page on my Website, made lasagna for lunch, took the dogs out, surfed Pinterest, & worked on Kyle's Tardis Afghan. My Sims game for Saturday was the Beechwood Victorian built by a talented other & my current Sim was Liz who was in the University. Liz made a tofu dog for dinner & headed to bed. The next day she went to class, studied, made a tofu dog for lunch, reported campus events, studied, & went to bed. The next day she made pancakes for breakfast, showered, & went to 2 classes. Sunday morning I was woken up by a Happy Mother's Day call from Eve. :D I took the dogs out, & started working on my Bavarian Crochet. Kyle said he heard sirens & I looked over at my radio & it was off. Not because I turned it off, but because the battery died while I was asleep during the night & I forgot to change it when I woke up because I was on the phone. I got up & checked ICS & it was us! We were on a smoke investigation. I never got an Active 911, e-mail, page, or phone page. Turns out the paging system was down yesterday. As I was changing out the battery on my radio, Pete called from on his way to work & said the FD was behind him on Bridgefarmer & asked if I knew we had a call. Nope! I didn't know until just a minute before he called! Had it turned out to be anything where they needed more manpower I would have gone. Went to the station & grabbed my gear & either brought out a 2nd truck or gone POV. My M-I-L called to wish me a Happy Mother's Day & ask if the flowers arrived that should have been here Saturday. Nope. Turns out everyone's flowers arrived except mine. It's noon on Monday now & they're STILL not here. I think she needs a refund. While I was on the phone my Avon Lady arrived w/ my new catalog, my order, & questions about the results of the election. I chatted w/ her for a while & then came in & worked on my board knitting for a bit, had a Carnation Instant Breakfast, went through the Sunday paper, chatted w/ Pete on the phone, surfed eBay, hand knitted, worked on my latch hook, added a background to my Website & decided on Denny's for breakfast next weekend, took Kyle & Sarah out to Texas Roadhouse for Mother's Day, came back & took the dogs out, worked on my plastic canvas, & looked for annual deals on athletic apparel on eBay. When Pete got home, he brought me Mother's Day brownie bites & a beautiful card! We did our nighttime routine & went to bed. Yesterday's Sims game was the Criminal game & my current Sim was Renesmee (3rd gen). This was a pre-Seasons game, so I started them out in the fall. Renesmee was in high school & did her homework, went to school, came home & did her homework again, took a bath, worked on her athletic skill, had a hamburger for dinner, took a bath, & went to bed. The next day she went to school & came home & went right to bed. The next day she made waffles for breakfast, worked on her logic skill, & had her birthday where she aged up into a young adult & gained the born saleswoman trait & chose Master Thief as her lifetime wish. She took the University aptitude test & scored 400/400 & received the distinguished phys ed award. When she got to the University she worked on her logic skill & then headed off to the meet & greet followed by a kegger she was invited to after. When she left the party she headed back to the dorm & made a tofu dog for dinner. Pete & I stayed up really late last night watching TV & I happily worked on my Bavarian Crochet projects (2), & then slept pretty late today as a result. When I finally DID crawl out of bed this morning, I took the dogs out, updated my apps & synced my iPad Mini w/ iTunes on my PC. My Sims game for today is the Science game. My current Sim is Gary, who scored the distinguished science award on his aptitude test & headed off to the University. The 1st thing he did when he got there was sit down & study for a bit. Milligan Water meeting tonight.
18th century soldier Angelique Brulon disguised herself as a man to fight in the French Revolution. When she was discovered, she was nonetheless allowed to remain in service because she was so good w/ a sword & dagger in hand-to-hand combat.

Dag Hammarskjold, past Secretary-General of the U.N., once made a profound, far-reaching statement: "It's nobler to give yourself completely to 1 individual than to labor diligently for the salvation of the masses." I take that to mean I could devote 8, 10, or 12 hours a day 5, 6, or 7 days a week to the thousands of people out there & still not have a deep, meaningful relationship w/ my spouse or w/ my closest working associate. And it would take more nobility of character - more humility, courage, & strength - to rebuild that 1 relationship than it would to continue putting in all those hours for all those people & causes.
Ham, the Astrochimp, was the 1st chimpanzee to pilot a space craft & return to Earth safely. He was chosen from over 40 candidates as having the "right stuff," & he did!
Here's a snappy item. You know you win a few, & you lose a few, right, during the economy. You know that gas prices are going up, but beef prices are coming down. See now, if you use your American ingenuity, what you do is, you buy a cow, feed him refried beans, & you get a cow w/ gas. -Johnny Carson 1975
If you get asked to go to the Oscars, taking your mom is the right choice. It's the least you can do for the person who gave you life.
