★ July 1, 2013 ★

Happy July! Well, the so-called coin toss didn't end as I had hoped. BUT ... that's OK. I have adapted & recalculated my route in life. I have a son in Myrtle Beach that I'm VERY proud of, he & his fiancee just got their own place & it's pretty nice. He has a great work ethic & it shows in his success. My other son, Kyle (4th pic) is also doing very well with the exception of the occasional bone-headed screw up ... but those are becoming less frequent. Kyle starts his senior year soon & I have every hope that he'll do very well. Life goes on &
the show must go on. Those who have been cut from the cast ... oh well. There's not a damn thing I can do about it & I prefer to focus on those who are here WITH me & WANT my assistance. The 1st pic is of a Luna Moth that I saw in another state. It's huge! The 3rd pic shows it's size in relation to my hand. Such a beautiful moth! I've always likes moths, so seeing this one for the 1st time was really cool. During the daytime portions of the drive out & back that I was a passenger, I took the time to
work on my favorite project, the Bavarian Crochet afghan being made w/ Simply Soft (2nd pic). We were supposed to leave Tuesday night, but due to some drama from half a dozen directions at once, we delayed our departure time to Wednesday afternoon. Almost didn't leave at all. I chatted w/ an old friend & then once I realized we weren't leaving that night it was too late to do anything other than sit down & crochet for a bit until bedtime. My Sims game from Tuesday was Villa Octavia & my Sim Edward is in the university
towards his fine arts degree. Wednesday afternoon found us on the road to Myrtle Beach. It was a nice drive out but w/ some arguing about the drama that delayed our departure in the 1st place. When we arrived in Conway Thursday morning, we took a much needed nap. I especially needed rest because I'm unable to sleep in a moving vehicle. I've been that way for the past 20 years. 20 years ago, on a trip to Myrtle Beach, I fell asleep ... and then so did the driver of the vehicle! Their falling asleep woke me up (thank God!) & there was no crash, but ever since that moment I'm completely unable to close my eyes, sleep, or even sight-see from the passenger seat. My eyes are ALWAYS on the road no
matter which seat I'm in ... just in case. Normally that wouldn't be a bad thing, but on long distance trips it completely wipes me out. Being extremely tired but unable to so much as rest my eyes makes long trips VERY difficult for me. The accident shown to the left happened on our way back home & stopped traffic for quite a while. I got a lot of crocheting done during this little incident. It was a 3 vehicle accident, but nothing REALLY bad. Luckily everyone seemed OK. The service was Thursday afternoon & everyone left w/ just enough
time to get there. We NEEDED fuel or we would have run out of gas on the way, so we stopped for fuel & caffeine (we only had a short nap after being on the road overnight). There was more than 1 cemetery on the road we were instructed to go to, & of course we went to the wrong one. After turning around & then heading to the correct one up the road, we had missed the service. Over 1,000 miles & we missed it. Everyone should have left sooner, it was cutting it way too close even if nothing went wrong at all. On the way out
of the service there was a long freight train that stopped traffic for a while. The train then stopped (across the road), backed up a little, then eventually continued forward & out of the way. Had this happened on the way IN to the service, no one would have made it on time. This is why I'm early everywhere. You never know what's going to happen. Fuel, caffeine, train, weather, accident, blowout, engine trouble, etc. I learned a long time ago to leave with enough time to be early. Not TOO early, but early enough that I'm not sitting around too long IF everything goes exactly as planned, but not late if things DON'T go exactly as planned. It's those professional organizer skills that I have coupled w/ my OCD tendencies that ensure success in so many areas. After the service everyone went to Applebee's for a good meal & then it was back to the cemetery to visit the plot. I deal w/ death better than I used to, but it's still not easy for me. Unless the person was very old, tired, & wanted to go ... or in a lot of pain & wanted to go, I have a hard time w/ it. People taken too young, people taken before they were ready, people taken by surprise who didn't even know that they wouldn't see tomorrow ... those are the hard ones for me. I feel so bad for them that they're missing out on things like a beautiful day, a sunrise, a sunset, & milestones in the lives of those they cared about. I also of course am reminded of my own mortality. How tomorrow is never promised to any of us. How today might be my last. Did I do everything in life that I wanted to? I mean within reason of course. Trips to Italy & Paris don't count. I mean things that are readily within my reach. Did I put off until tomorrow something I really wanted to do that can be done today? What if there IS no tomorrow for me? Putting off doing the dishes? OK. I can live w/ that & in this case & die w/ that decision. But putting of joy, happiness, love, & everything else that makes this life worth living ... don't put it off. I'm not saying to be stupid & bankrupt yourself in the name of living for the moment, but I'm saying don't put off hugging the dog for example. You could slip in the shower half an hour from now or the dog could get hit by a car & you'd NEVER have a chance to hug the dog again. Stuff like that. In other words, be happy. Enjoy every day. But don't do stupid stuff because if you DO live a long life, you don't want to spend it in debt up to your eyeballs because you lived TOO MUCH for today at the expense of your tomorrows. Live happily but also responsibly. People die every day. Will tomorrow be your day? A loved one's? A friend's? A neighbor's? Something to keep in mind. We never know. Friday was a calmer day & I had gotten some rest. Throughout the day I had some free time & checked my AT&T page, left a mini blog on here, had a donut for breakfast, surfed eBay, checked facebook but didn't take any of my game turns because I was in the iPad Mini facebook app at the time, played a set of Backgammon on my iPad, the FD got toned out here for a call on my street but needless to say I was a tad out of district ... but about a thousand miles, & then I pulled out my Bavarian Crochet & worked on that a little bit before going out w/ Andrew & Erin for lunch & to see their new apartment. Saturday we were back on the road towards home. I was heartbroken over decisions that were made by others, but more than that I was extremely disappointed. There was much arguing on the trip home over the whole thing, but I've made my decision just as the other party has. Cause & effect. Everyone must live w/ their decisions. The other party & myself. I'm very comfortable w/ my decision. I can sleep at night & look at myself in the mirror w/ NO problem at all. When we got home I was SO happy to see all the pets & they were just as happy to see the 3 of us! After a few minutes of pet hug therapy, we curled up in bed & took a nap. Again I had stayed awake during the entire trip & was completely exhausted. I only slept about 3 hours though & was back up & stayed awake the entire day so I wouldn't be completely upside-down in my schedule for the next week. The person who took care of the pets for us did an AMAZING job! The house was perfect & the pets were well fed, watered, & happy. Again, great work ethic. They did a wonderful job & favor for us & I owe them big-time. THANK YOU! After my 3 hour nap I got up & took the dogs out, worked on my Bavarian Crochet, paid the bills for this paycheck, board knitted, & then we went out to the grocery store for supplies since we had no milk or other quick-turning perishables in the house (remember we were gone for days). When we got back & was so hungry that I wanted breakfast, lunch, AND dinner. All at once. I couldn't decide. Rice Krispies ... Lasagna ... a sandwich? I finally decided on a sandwich since the rolls were fresh & would be the 1st to go. After the sandwich it was the nighttime routine & bed. My Sims game for yesterday was Magnolia Townhouse. A home built by a talented other. I put the house in Bridgeport & started the game off in the summer. I then created Orlando. A hydrophobic who's rebellious, eco-friendly, a virtuoso, & frugal. His lifetime wish is to be a rock star. He likes fruit parfaits, custom music, & the color yellow. Like me, he's a Gemini. His furry companion is Luther, a Collie who's friendly, neat, & proud. Orlando went to the university towards a fine arts degree. Today starts a brand new month & as I said earlier, a brand new course in life. Kyle has a busy month this month w/ band, chores, college, court, debate, exercise, friends, job hunting, volunteering at the library, & trying to find to eat & sleep proper. Poor kid is booked solid & school hasn't even started yet. See? Now THAT is ambition, drive, & will to succeed & do something w/ life! I'm so proud, He's going to do great things w/ his life compared to people who do nothing all day, every day, for years. At this rate he'll be able to remain INDEPENDENT & retire comfortably while still young enough to enjoy his retirement. Did I mention I'm proud? Both of my boys are successful. :) Now I can't take any credit for how my 1st son came out other than making sure he was adopted by GOOD people w/ good work ethics & apparently I made a good choice w/ them. They did a wonderful job of raising him. I'd like to think that in some small way I had something to do w/ his success. This morning I took the dogs out & Kyle & I watched Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. 4 down, 6 to go in our Star Trek marathon.

My Medical:
My Medical is a comprehensive record-keeping app for your personal medical information. It's the perfect replacement for unreliable paper records or various electronic systems that hold bits and pieces of your medical history. With My Medical, any and all information that is important to you is kept together in one place.
Have a Mac or iPhone? Search the Mac App Store for our desktop version, or search here for "My Medical" and get our iPhone/iPod touch version now.
* It's for the whole family *
My Medical isn't just one medical record. You can keep as many records as you want. Use it for a spouse or aging parents. Use it to keep immunization records for your children. Use it to look after a special needs child. Doctors: use My Medical to maintain notes about your patients.
* 21st century record-keeping *
At heart, My Medical is a thorough database that's yours to control and change. But it's nice to have some help, which is why the app offers autocompletion and autosuggestion for a wealth of medical jargon, including prescription drug names; vaccinations; common afflictions; life support options; laboratory units; and much more. That means more time keeping track of what's important, and less time trying to remember (or spell) the name of that medication.
* A medical record and more *
Areas for emergency contacts, health insurance, doctors' contact information, and other data that are not strictly part of a traditional personal health record (PHR) are all available. And if you already have medical contacts in your address book, then perfect, because My Medical can import it in the tap of a finger. There's no need to retype it all.
* And it works with your calendar *
My Medical will automatically put doctor's appointments and upcoming lab tests on your calendar. You can even set reminder alarms directly from the app, without ever going into your calendar.
* A digital file cabinet *
What about photographs, labwork, x-rays and other important documents that can't be typed directly in? My Medical devotes an entire area to extra files that can be attached to your record. Not only that, you can tie files to particular items anywhere within your information. So add a picture of the pill next to a medication. Keep a copy of your insurance card alongside a provider's contact information.
* From blood tests to X-rays *
My Medical provides a range of common test result templates for you to track test results. To name just a few: blood pressure; cholesterol; metabolic panels; blood sugar; CAT scan; height and weight. If that isn't enough, construct and customize your own test results to keep track of exactly what you need.
* Visualize it *
Chart test results with sophistication and discover trends overr time. With the charting feature you can view multiple graphs simultaneously and even see moving averages to uncover long term changes.
* It's secure *
Unlike most other health record applications, data is stored right on your device, not on remote servers. As a further safety measure, you may require a password in order to view all or certain parts of your information.
* In case of emergency *
My Medical is a valuable aid for EMTs, first responders, or those who may need to quickly find out emergency instructions. Even if you have password-protected the app, certain information is made accessible in the event of an emergency.
* Get the word out *
Sharing your information has never been easier. Generate a report of all or part of your record and email it straightaway. Or export it as a Microsoft Excel-readable spreadsheet. Or you can always send your info to the printer to make a hard copy.
* Sharing *
Our mobile and Mac apps are fully compatible and you can seamlessly send data between them over a wireless network (WiFi). They can also be backed up for safekeeping. If your device is lost or replaced, your information is easily restored.
