July 8, 2013

I'm officially an e-cig smoker as soon as the deluxe starter kit arrives! I have 1 silver, 1 blue, & 1 black battery. I like variety ... but not in flavors. I only have the classic tobacco flavor. Smoking chocolate just didn't seem ... right. Anyway, here's to still having my 2 vices of caffeine & nicotine but healthier. No more carcinogens that they
add to tobacco, no more ash trays, no more yellowed walls, no more blue smoke-filled rooms, & freedom to smoke anywhere I want again ... just like the old days that only us old people remember. Days when you COULD smoke in restaurants, movie theaters, on airplanes ... anywhere, without someone being "offended" & whining about it. It seems that all of our freedoms have been taken away. Not just smoking, but think about it ... what CAN you do in public anymore without someone
whining that it offends them? Almost nothing. It's actually pretty sad. Anyway, that's an entirely different rant. As you can see I caught up on my Broomstick Lace Watercolors & Blue Country Dark Double Quilt Square over the yesterday & today. Saturday I showered, changed, & headed to the pool party which was a very nice party. Great hosts, great guests, great food, great fireworks, & great music! I brought 2 bottles of liquor ... 1 as a thank you for pet sitting & 1 as a thank you for the party invite. Janis, if you're reading this, thank you again ... we had a great time! Sunday afternoon (we both slept REAL late ... I got up at noon-thirty & Pete more around
2:30p) I took the dogs out & while I was outside the FD got toned out to a medical alarm but was then disregarded. See what happens when you walk outside without any of your electronics? I worked on my Bavarian crochet & board knitting, then had ham for breakfast, went through the Sunday paper, surfed eBay, & checked some of facebook & took my game turns. Yesterday's Sims game was Christian (our house, our Sims) (last pic). My Sim took a nap & then headed off to work at the firehouse where she had breakfast, showered, responded to an emergency & got promoted to Soot Stripper (2nd level of 10 in the firefighting career), went back to the station & maintained the engine & alarm system, then worked on her needed athletic skill until it was time to head home from work. This morning I woke up MUCH earlier ... 8:a, took the dogs out & then settled down for my MMM (Monday Morning Movie). Adventures of Ford Fairlane. Not bad. Not great, but not bad. Today's Sims game is Summer Garden Cottage. My Sim Scott Whipsnake (3rd gen) is a child & is going to school & doing his homework. Milligan Water meeting tonight @ 7:30p for all those interested in how our local water company is doing. I used to go to the meetings, but things have been so insane lately that I barely make it to ANY pre-scheduled meetings or events. Pete did research on Moore / Spartanburg & has ruled out moving there. So sad ... I really loved that house, porch, yard, town, city, area code (LOL!) ... I'm sad that it's not going to happen. I know Kyle isn't graduated yet nor is he 18 yet, but I really need to go back to work sooner rather than later. I'm trying to find a job that will allow me to be home when Kyle's home, but it's difficult. ALL moms are doing the exact same thing once the school year starts again. This is why I was waiting. It's so much easier to find a job when your hours aren't limited. I have a long list of "To-Do" items around the house once I start working & the very 1st thing on the list is the A/C. These window units for 7 years ... they work, but they're loud & not very stylish. I'm going to get a brand new high efficiency system installed. I have no idea what it'll cost yet, but I'm guessing I won't be doing it with my 1st paycheck unless they have a payment plan. IF I get a job SOON, I should have the brand new A/C unit installed before NEXT summer. That's only 1 of MANY items on my list. I can't wait to start fixing this place up inside & out! How do you explain to your children that it's OK to be retired at 47 but NOT at 15? My son just wandered out here after waking up at noon-thirty & used the excuse; "Well YOU slept until 12:30 yesterday." OK, I'm 47. I'm retired. It's NOT OK to sleep until 12:30 at 15 or 17! At 15 & 17 I was up EARLY & going to school. In the summer I was up EARLY & working my ass off! Get with the program guys! You're not retired! Well, ONE of them is & it disgusts me. I don't want the other one to pull the same crap. I swear to God I didn't raise them this way! What the hell happened? They KNOW it's disappointing to me, but they don't care. I guess they fell for Obama's promise to take care of them fully while they sit & play games all day or read. Yeah, good luck with that. Have you not an ounce of pride & self-worth? Have you NO work ethic? I'm from a time where you EARNED retirement by working your ass off for decades, not by just saying "I don't feel like it" from day 1. Hell, I'm RETIRED & I'm going back to work! Why? Because air conditioning would be nice. This is Texas. I'm tired of being out of shape because it's too hot to breathe, never mind exercise without giving myself heat stroke! Yeah, I COULD beg the government to hand me everything I want like a lot of other people do, but you know what? I'm better than that. If I want something, I EARN IT! For the past 2 decades my husband has taken care of me, but I EARNED IT. I didn't just sit on the sofa for the past 20 years & eat bonbons while watching soap operas. No, I worked my ass off in our home. I earn my keep unlike my 1 child who does NO chores & my other child who does very minimal chores & says "I'm done" 15 minutes after starting. No, I'm sorry, you're done? Then you didn't do crap & what you DID claim to do, you did very poorly. This is your home, take some pride in it for God's sake. I'm your mother, not your maid. Yeah, I slept until 12:30p yesterday but you know what? I EARNED THAT, Butthead!

1st duty of love is to listen.

1st use of evaporated milk in history was noted by Marco Polo, who wrote that Kublai Khan's Mongol troops carried sun-dried milk across the vast grasslands of their empire.

America is the only industrial nation without legally mandated vacations, yet worldwide the average mandated & paid leave time is 20 days / year & that doesn't include holidays!

I don't want to laugh when I tell you this, because there was a rather tragic industrial accident that took place in Morristown, N.J., earlier today. Apparently, an employee at the Domino manufacturing company fainted, fell over, & before he could be stopped, knocked down 750 other workers. -Johnny Carson 1991
