July 3, 2013

Good morning! I woke up early this morning, took the dogs out & then immediately had a very strange PC issue. I had NO Internet. Neither did my iPad Mini. Pete's PC was working fine though. He sat down to diagnose it & then the keyboard went out. Not all of it, the number lock & power lights were still on, but the display & backlighting were off & the keyboard wasn't responding. After a hard reset, everything started working again including the iPad Mini which isn't connected to the PC at all. Most of my morning has been spent just sitting here thinking. What do
we have here in Texas? Nothing. Family? Nope. Friends? Nope. High-paying jobs? Nope. Why are we here? I decided to start looking around for a good mid-point between immediate family. OK ... now, knowing that I always want everything weighed & measured PERFECTLY, I now took into account weight. By weight, I mean we have ONE immediate family member in 1 location & TWO immediate family members in the other location. Weighing the locations of number of family in each location puts us closer to 1 side than the other which makes perfect sense. The location would then be Pauline, S.C. which apparently has NO Website, facebook page, or anything. Must be a tiny little place because even Lowry Crossing, it's FD, & water company each has a Website! My future home if I have anything to say about it. While checking out Glen Springs I ended up getting distracted (again ... it's one of THOSE days apparently) & did a LOT of housecleaning on my facebook account. I deleted SO many pages, many of which made no sense to me as to WHY I ever liked that page to begin with, many that no longer applied or I was no longer interested in, etc. My news feed should be MUCH cleaner now. Anyway ... back to Pauline. I could easily find a job in Pauline, but Pete would have to commute to Spartanburg, a 10 mile commute, which would be the shortest commute he ever had. I'm thinking maybe I could go ahead & move out there, get set up, & Pete & Kyle could meet me out there later. By later I mean a year from now because as I said, Kyle wants to graduate from Princeton because it's the only school system he's ever known. Understandable. My search for housing & work out in Pauline will begin today. The move to Texas was random. I wanted out of Jersey & this was the 1st place that came up. Pete was sent to Texas on a business trip & I said "HERE". Staying equal distance between immediate families back then would have left us exactly where we were, actually. We couldn't really afford it. I was pregnant & the cost of living in N.Y. was high. We could have lived there, but we couldn't have lived WELL there. It would have been a difficult lifestyle in a TINY house. Also, if we had stayed there was a very high probability that Pete would have been working in one of the twin towers. We moved here at random, Pete is alive & the kids had a decent life in an average home. Now it's time to move on. My mom moved to Tennessee for the same reason we left the tri-state area ... too expensive. Same for Pete's parents in South Carolina. 1 year. 1 year until Kyle graduates & we move. I wish it could be sooner. There's another thing about me wanting to move. I'm the type of person that likes change. I get bored being in 1 place too long & I've lived in Lowry Crossing now longer than anywhere else in my adult life ... EVER. I'm getting restless. I've looked locally just for a better house, I've looked in Denton due to Pete's new job, now I'm looking where I REALLY want to move to. Now the problem with me wanting to move to the place I've chosen FOR the reason I chose is because had I done this last year, it wouldn't have been Pauline, S.C. It would have been more to the east because the weight would have been different last year. THREE people in 1 of the 2 locations vs. the 2 that are there now. Death & people moving change things & that's an ever changing variable. We already lost 1 immediate family member recently. What if God forbid another one goes? The weight changes. What if one of the children moves to another location? Then there's a new point thrown into the triangulation. Death is lurking on 1 side & the ages of the children make moving something that's lurking on their side. Which means we'd be moving a LOT to keep the distance between all of us equal. Again, just a quirk I have personally & something I'd really like to do. Now this could work out great if we move, fix up the new house to better than it was, & when we move again are able to sell it for a profit. Yeah, that would work! :) It's a lot of work though & we're old. Hiring people to do home improvements would SERIOUSLY impact the profit margin on resale. Yesterday was a good day. I had a bagel for breakfast, crocheted, surfed eBay, checked facebook & took my game turns, worked w/ the Inkle Loom, added the random backgrounds to my spinner page on my personal Website, had Pizza Hut delivery for lunch, went through the mail, took the dogs out, & did a few short minutes of Mile-A-Minute crochet before Pete got home from work. Yesterday's Sims game was Grandmother's House & my Sim Faith is in the university on an apprentice business award. Today I took the dogs out, loaded up Bentbook Farm, a house & farm I built in Sims that's a full working farm with EVERYTHING ... long rows & rows of everything. The farm needs many people in order to keep up w/ the crops. My Sims are Elizabeth & Orlando, both created by me to run the farm. Elizabeth is pregnant & Orlando shipped off to the university towards a degree in science & medicine which will help him w/ his farming. Other news of the day ... I'm coming down w/ a cold. Lovely. Maybe that accounts for the getting up really early but not getting ANYTHING done yet. I'm just moving in slow motion & when I DO move, I'm distracted & doing everything but what I should be doing. 4th of July tomorrow! Still distracted, just cleaned out about 40 people from my friends list. People from games I no longer play on facebook, people that are no longer a part of my life, people that gave me shit for what I post ... I still have 70-something friends that I actually know &/or are connected w/ in some way that don't give me a hard time for my opinions &/or posts. So, to those removed ... A) It wasn't personal or B) You made it personal by giving me crap. You still think you're right, I still think I'm right. In matters concerning my own children, I have the final say. I squirted them out & raised them, you didn't. In other matters concerning issues such as politics, religion, gay rights, etc, etc ... if you're going to argue w/ me about my beliefs &/or hold them against me ... you're gone too. Life is too short to spend it arguing every day (unless you're Italian, in which case it's a way of life). ;)

Bit of hot weather trivia, you may not know: how Tarzan originally got his yell. Years ago he had a convertible w/ plastic seat covers. Parked it outside on a [hot] day like yesterday, came out of the studio wearing a loin cloth, jumped in the car, & that's where Tarzan got that yell. -Johnny Carson 1985
