August 21, 2013

Good morning! Yesterday was a perfect day! Well, close enough. :) I had a donut for breakfast, got the mail, showered, chatted w/ Pete, & then went to work. I unloaded the folding table & my chair at my booth & some home-made sweaters to sell. Then headed to the bank to get $200 to make change for sales & sorted it into the cash box, then back to the house to get more stock for the booth, sorted ALL my afghans, bedspreads, & throws, then photographed, posted, tagged, & loaded the truck w/ bedspreads for unloading at the booth today, measured every window in the house & changed the window coverings each w/ a perfect fit, updated my online inventory, etc. I took a lunch break in the middle of all that & had rice for lunch & instead of putting in a 6 hour day as I was supposed to, I worked overtime & put in an 8 hour day. It's nice to have a job you like enough to voluntarily put in overtime. The setup is the hardest. Once I'm past this part the rest will be cake. In the middle of work the FD got toned out to mutual aid a neighboring department for a grass fire & I can't believe I missed it! A dress, heels, & work ... & a grass fire. DAMN! Of all the different types of calls the FD gets, grass fires are my specialty ... & I missed one. After work I came back home, took the dogs out, & wanted so badly to go to Texas Roadhouse for dinner, but they had closed half an hour before my dinnertime. That's part of the problem w/ going to bed late, sleeping late, starting work late, finishing work late, & on top of all that putting in 2 hours overtime. Things are closed by the time you're done! I ended up grilling hamburgers & hot dogs for dinner & Pete came home just as dinner was ready. We ate, watched TV, & headed to bed (late). Yesterday's Sims game was Grandmother's House & my Sim Faith is in the university on an apprentice business award. She's been working on her skills & going to classes. Since we went to bed late last night, I woke up late this morning, took the dogs out & chatted w/ Pete. I have to drive Kyle to band & pick up clothing racks I'm buying for the booth today around the regular work stuff. Today's Sims game is the medical career & my Sim JUST aged up into a young adult & headed off to the university on a distinguished technology award.

Beware of so-called random acts of kindness from coworkers. They usually come w/ big strings attached. Hide in your cubicle until 3:p, then fake an illness to leave work early.

Coat hands w/ a super-rich lotion before going to bed. It's OK if they're slick & slippery - night's the time for heavy-duty care.

Gold in the world market hit an all-time high today ... you know what that means? That means that all of those who ruined their teeth eating junk food now have enough gold in their mouth to buy the building that the dentist works in.

In 2001, astronomers examined spectral analyses of over 200,000 galaxies & determined that the color of the universe is a shade of white they named "Cosmic Latte."

Pick up a stack of folders & walk around the office nonstop for 45 minutes, pretending you're doing something important.

Wait until you have a full load before running your dishwasher. But don't overload it, either.

When I say empathic listening, I mean listening w/ intent to understand. I mean seeking 1st to understand, to really understand. it's an entirely different paradigm.
