◉ August 14, 2013 ◉

Good morning! Yesterday was almost perfect. I had snausage for breakfast, checked out 1Note, perused Ravelry, showered & then of course the FD got toned out to a med call, I cleaned off the top of one of the bookshelves in the living room & learned a great recipe for pan gravy, dusted the lights in my crafting room & made sure they all worked & no bulbs needed to be changed, took the dogs out, then I got accused of lying about a job! I was asked to do a job, I said I would do it within 24 hours, received a message about how this has to be done withing ONE BUSINESS DAY along with a lecture about the job (they didn't see my message about "I'll have it done in 24 hours which is on a SUNDAY)! I reported back that it was done & asked to have my work checked just to make sure everything was as it should be ... to make sure I didn't miss anything, & due to someone else's pilot error, was accused of lying about doing the job & then lectured about doing things in a timely manner & even asked to turn over the job to someone else if I "didn't have time" to do it. Well, I DID do it & I'm really tired of this crap. Crap lit this has been a constant over the past several years & this is why I AVOID this person. You know, I may not have all the time in the world anymore & I may be stretched pretty thin these days, but if I said I did something, I DID IT! I don't lie. That was a pretty big insult & unfortunately, what I've come to expect from the person who did it. Not cool man ... NOT cool. At 7:p the FD had their maintenance night & I'm hoping all went well there. I was again unable to attend, but help out in other ways whenever possible until I am able to give more time to the FD again like I used to. They've got a great crew there & I miss being a regular part of it. I went through the mail, cleared out my AOL e-mail, then finally sat down to watch half a movie before Pete got home from work. Yesterday's Sims game was the military career & my Sim Michael is in the university towards a technology degree & has been going to classes. This morning I took the dogs out & loaded up Chateauroux. My Sim Rusty just aged up into a young adult, gained the "dislikes children" trait, decided to be a Pervasive Private Eye, & then went off to the university on an apprentice technology award.

Despite its name, the Pony Express actually never used a single pony. Ponies were too weak & small for the kind of riding required, so full-grown horses were used.

I kid Tommy a lot, but something sad about Tommy: He legally changed his name to "Occupant," so he'd get a personal letter once in a while. -Johnny Carson 1980

It's Elvis Week. And when you have questions in your life, ask WWED? (What would Elvis do?) Need to spruce up the family room? The Big "E" would carpet the ceiling. Sick of the news on TV? "E" would shoot it. I think you'll find Elvis had a solution for everything.

  4. Wrap a strip of hosiery around a bar of soap to rub the skin as a loofah, a gentle exfoliate.
  5. Cut circle strips of foot & leg section of the nylons to make ponytail holders.
  6. Trash bag ties

While other people are waiting in line, taste what you've just cooked, say "another minute," put it back into the microwave, & repeat this sequence at least 3X.

You're out to lunch w/ a friend who is 8 months pregnant. Suddenly, she clutches her throat; she can't speak & doesn't seem to be breathing. You:
a. Attempt the Heimlich maneuver.
b. Call 911, then give a series of back blows & quick thrusts to the chest.
c. Drive her to the ER. It's too dangerous for an untrained person to give 1st aid to someone who's pregnant.
Answer: b. The traditional Heimlich maneuver, 5 upward thrusts into the abdomen, shoule be altered so as not to harm the baby. Stand slightly behind your friend & start 2/ 5 quick blows to the back. Then make a fist w/ 1 hand & place it in the middle of her breastbone above her baby bump. Grasp your fist w/ your other hand & give 5 sharp thrusts. Repeat until the food is dislodged or help arrives.
