Good morning (barely)! Yesterday I checked my iCloud e-mail, went through my PDF files & found a cute set of notepaper but couldn't print it out because I'm currently only using a black & white laser printer & these kinda required color, & then I started a new project. The Custom-Fit Raglan Sweater w/ a Woven Cable pattern (1st pic). I'm 1/3 of the way through the project already & made it to the pattern part on the main body. Well, not all the way through the pattern part ... the total pattern is about 8 rows & I think I'm on row 6 of it. It's a very nice pattern though, I like it a lot! It was also a very busy day for the FD ... we got toned out to a med call, I picked Kyle up from band & while I was in the school parking lot we got toned out to
another med call, & later that night we were toned out to standby
for a structure fire in a neighboring town. Yesterday's Sims game was
the Law Enforcement career. My Sim Olivia is in the university on a
distinguished technology award & she's been going to classes. This morning was work, then take the dogs out & load up LizC864 2 (2nd & 3rd pics). My Sim Ann-Marie is currently pregnant but will be
heading off to the university as soon as she has the baby. She's most likely going for a degree in athletics since her lifetime wish is to master the martial arts & athletic skills. Her day job, however, is school teacher. Things that annoy me (today): 1) Saying you're going to do something & then after not doing it, getting mad at me when I ask if you're going to do it TODAY. Why did you act like it was important to you if it really wasn't? 2) People who are perfectly able to work & refuse. Leaches. Mooches. Slugs. 3) Enablers. People who are perfectly happy to support ... feed, clothe, house, & provide everything needed & "wanted" by leaches, mooches, & slugs. I despise people who have everything but never earned it. They disgust me. On the other hand, people who have very little & are struggling for everything they DO have, have all my respect. I would rather be friends w/ a poor person who waits tables for everything they own even though it's not much than someone who has everything but never earned a dime of it. I was raised to believe that you earn what you have. If you eat an apple, you WORKED for that apple! If you didn't work for it, there's NO apple & you go hungry. The way it SHOULD be! I worked every day of my life from my teen years on up to today. At 13 I started doing all the chores around the house. Mowing the lawn (WELL), doing the dishes (WELL), cleaning my room (WELL), etc. Not half-assed jobs ... I did them correctly. I did them well or I would have had to do them again until they were right. Yes, my mom had to ride my ass to get me to do them, too. At 16 I changed. I started doing the chores without being told. I suddenly started caring for the home I lived in. I got my 1st job. Not because I was TOLD to get a job, but because I WANTED to. I wasn't even old enough to work legally yet. I worked off the books, but I was WORKING! I worked both inside the home & outside the home from the age of 16 until I got pregnant & then I stayed home & took care of the apartment & myself so I'd have a healthy baby. Since then I have continued to stayed home, taking care of our home, & taking care of our children. No, they're not perfect ... but they were raised by their PARENTS. NOT by a nanny, NOT by a babysitter, NOT by a relative. Their PARENTS raised them both. If mistakes were made in their upbringing, it was by US. We can't just say "Oh, someone else must have screwed up". Our children, our responsibility. Now once Kyle leaves the nest & goes out on his own, I'll go back out into the working world. Not like I did before ... not full time / overtime ... but more of a semi-retirement thing. I'll work outside the home again on a part time basis while still taking care of our home ... which will work out to full time overall. When I reach retirement age, I'll stop working outside the home, but there truly is NO real "full" retirement. I will ALWAYS have work to do. Retirement means only that I go from full time (full time work outside the home as a youth or full time work raising children or full time that's a combination of part time work outside the home to part time work inside the home) to part time ... taking care of the home only. There will ALWAYS be work until the day I die. There are no butlers or maids to clean up after me. There will always be dishes to clean, trash to take out, laundry to wash. That's the way I was raised & that's the way I believe it should be. THIS is why I'm so disgusted by 20-somethings just sitting around the house reading books & playing video games while everyone else takes care of their every whim. What the hell is that?! My brain just can't accept that programming. It's just not right. Telling my brain to accept that is like trying to tell my brain that 2+2=9. My brain just refuses it ... kicks it back out & says "ARE YOU SMOKING SHIT?! That's not right & you KNOW IT!" Now I know it's "THEIR" life & "THEIR" decision on how to live it, but that doesn't mean I have to be OK with it, accept it, or like it. And MY life means that I have the right to turn my back on people like that & say "I choose to not interact with you at ALL, because in my opinion, you chose to fail. To be nothing". Now go ahead & be all pissed at me for my outlook on life, my opinions, & my decisions. That's YOUR right. Now as for me working outside the home again in 10 months ... I have NO idea where to start. I'll take the 1st job I can get my hands on just to start working, but once that's done, the search for a "me" job begins. Where can an almost 50-year-old woman go to take that test that they give high school students? The career exploration test that evaluates you & tells you where you'd best fit in out there in this great big world? I've Googled it & saved the search results. I've been working inside the home for 20 years now. I've changed. The world has changed. I'm not sure where I belong out there anymore. I can type fairly fast. I'm comfortable working with Excel, Outlook, & Word, but not on a level that Microsoft would want me to be at for tech support (for example). I love to drive & use my turn signals, etc ... no tickets or accidents in 30+ years. I'm a loner, uncomfortable around strangers which means I wouldn't be good at a help desk or as a receptionist. I USED to be strong & physically resilient, but I'm almost 50 now & weak & tired. This now eliminates much of the jobs I used to have that required being on my feet for 10 hours & doing lots of heavy lifting (warehouses). I'm good with computers, but not as good as Pete is. I know HTML but not all the new fancy stuff that's out there. I love crocheting & knitting & know yarn better than most, but there aren't a lot of yarn stores in the area that are hiring. Michael's is a good one, but they don't hire by department which means I'd be all over the place & having to learn ALL crafts in order to help customers well. I know where & what things are in Home Depot more than most of their employees do, but again, a lot of that stuff is heavy & I'm sure there's lots of standing, walking, & lifting required. It goes on & on. Somewhere out there is a test that covers all this & sums it all up into the best type of work suited for someone like me in today's world. Once I have that information, I can begin my search for the best job for "me" as I'm working the 1st job I can get my hands on just to be working. As an added bonus, since Pete works & my income isn't necessary for survival, a large portion of my income in the beginning from that 1st job is going to be put towards training to improve my skills for my "me" job which should increase pay & my chances of getting that job. I can also hopefully go back into the FD more than I've been able to these days. I was hopeful when I joined & spent many many many hours w/ the FD, but after a year I realized that it was doing damage at home. My children were at an age where they really needed me to be home. I found this out the hard way. Once Kyle moves out & I'm back to work & in school & taking care of the home myself ... will I have more time for the FD? Probably! LOL!!
Apparent appearance of a religious figure's face in your waffle is really just a bad reflection due to a syrup over-pour. Better go to church this weekend anyway, just in case.

If your kids insist on pricier items & impulse buys when shopping for school supplies, leave the kids at home (I don't agree with this ... I say bring them & teach them to accept the word "NO"). This way, you can mark items off the list without kids pleading for the cute, costly pencils or designer folders (or again, you can bring them & teach them the word "NO!" instead of just dodging the real problem which is that they don't know the value of money & are spoiled).
It's Saturday afternoon & you're hiking w/ a friend on a remote mountain trail when he slips & tumbles 100' down a steep, rocky slope. He's conscious but too seriously injured to climb back up. You check your cell phone: no coverage. You should:
a. Wait on the trail for another hiker to come along & help you.
b. Mark the spot on the trail w/ something from your pack, then hike out to find help.
c. Attempt to climb down to administer 1st aid.
Answer: b. If the terrain is too difficult to navigate safely, it's best to get professional help - & as quickly as possible. Marking the trail will help you relocate the scene of the accident. Above all, be proactive by always telling someone where you're going & when you're planning to be back.

Yapese in Micronesia have the world's largest currency: large, donut-shaped stone coins - some as big as 12' in diameter - called Rai stones. Because they're heavy, ownership of these stones may change, but the stones themselves are rarely moved.
