★ April 9, 2013 ★

Good morning. I'm on a severely crippled PC today. Pete ran everything he knows to run & removed much malware, spyware, & all kinds of crap (where did I pick THOSE up?!). Problem is, it's still mostly hosed. You have no idea what I went through to open Blogger here. Server not found ... reload, reload, reload ... found it. Loads only large unformatted text, reload, reload. Loads, but there's only broken images. I call Pete & say "guess what? You fix didn't fix it." He says to load up Chrome & use that today instead of Firefox. I load Chrome ... nothing happens. I double click on Chrome again, nothing. I right click ... open. Nothing. I give up, go on to something else. 15 minutes later it opens. WTF? Fine. At least I have a browser to use now. It's hosed too. It's doing the exact same thing Firefox was doing. IE is the same. None of the browsers on my PC work. It's not the Internet connection because my iPad Mini & Pete & Kyle's laptops are working fine from anywhere in the house. I think I may have to back up all important data onto a DVD today & let Pete format this thing tonight. I hope it doesn't come to that, but if he can't come up with any better ideas ... . I'm using firefox now ... I had to hit reload, reload, reload many times to get Blogger to load enough to use. I only forced it because I can type MUCH faster on my desktop PC than I can on my iPad Mini or the bluetooth keyboard for the iPad Mini. I normally just type on the iPad Mini itself if it's something short. If it becomes longer, like an IM with someone or an e-mail, I use the bluetooth keyboard. If it's my blog & my desktop PC is in the same geographical state I'm in, I'll use it over everything else. I got pretty far yesterday, but that was only because I was severely limited as to what I could accomplish & had to skip many things (like working on my business which requires my scanner & more than the iPad Mini eBay app). I made snausage for breakfast yesterday & then went through the mail, crocheted a roll-up hook & needle holder, surfed eBay on my iPad Mini, checked facebook (briefly) on my iPad Mini, processed a book from my inbox, gave Kyle his monthly cleaning chore for the week, made a hot dog for lunch, took the dogs out, & was showering when Pete got home. After that it was work on my hosed PC, & our nighttime routine. My Sim Fantasy had a decent day too. She made spaghetti for dinner & went to bed. The next day she worked on her inventing skill, cleaned the house, made waffles for breakfast, worked on her painting skill, spent time with the pets, worked on her photography skill, showered, spent time with her hubby & in the middle of woohoo went into labor. Oops! She went to the hospital & gave birth to a baby boy named Ivan McDermott (2nd gen). Ivan is neurotic & friendly. He's a Virgo who likes Chinese music, vegetarian dim sum, & the color purple. When she got home with Ivan she gave him a bottle. I closed that game for the night & let all of Pete's scans run on my PC. Lots of malicious stuff was deleted & the scan that's STILL running has so far found 4 more (we run MANY different things on here, each one catches something the others didn't). The fact that my system is STILL hosed is bad news though. Not sure what Pete's going to have to do when he gets home from work tonight. When I do something, I don't do it half-assed. It's all or nothing apparently. For years I'll never have a problem with my PC, but when I finally do ... it's usually fatal to the system. This morning I took the dogs out & checked my AT&T page. I loaded my medical family in Sims, generations of nothing but doctors. Yeah, they're going to be stupid rich. My 2nd gen Sim in this game just went to his last day of high school. Tomorrow morning at 7:a (in the game), he ages up into a young adult, gets a job at the hospital in the medical field, continues working on his logic skill (he's level 7 already), & works on meeting & marrying someone. He FINALLY met a female in school today, but it was his last day & he barely knows her. I think he's going to have to rely on meeting someone at work. When I loaded up the game he went to bed, woke up, showered, & went to his last day of school. Back IRL, LCFD maintenance tonight @ 7:p.

A lot of you are from out of town ... have you been to Forest Lawn? It's on the tour guide, right? I guess the most famous cemetery in the world, & it's located right across the street here. Right out here with all the major motion picture studios & TV studios. Forest Lawn is the 1 w/ the better plots. -Johnny Carson 1983

Honda wins World Green Car award (2009):
On this day in 2009, the Honda FCX Clarity, a four-door sedan billed as the planet's first hydrogen-powered fuel-cell vehicle intended for mass production, wins the World Green Car award at the New York Auto Show.
The first FCX Clarity cars came off the assembly line at a Honda plant in Takanezawa, Japan, in June 2008. As The New York Times reported at the time: "Fuel-cell vehicles have been a sort of holy grail of the auto industry, offering the promise of driving without emitting air-polluting exhaust. Fuel cells work by combining hydrogen and oxygen from ordinary air to make electricity, in a process whose only byproducts are water and heat."
According to Honda, which reportedly spent more than 15 years and millions of dollars developing its fuel-cell technology, the FCX Clarity is more fuel-efficient than a gas-powered car or hybrid and gets 74 miles per gallon of fuel. The Times also noted that fuel-cell vehicles such as the FCX Clarity are more eco-friendly than an electric car "whose batteries take hours to recharge and use electricity, which, in the case of the United States, China and many other countries, is often produced by coal-burning power plants."
One downside of fuel-cell technology, however, is its cost, which in the case of the FCX Clarity, added up to several hundred thousand dollars per vehicle. To combat this issue, Honda chose to initially lease rather than sell the cars, at a subsidized price of some $600 per month. In July 2008, the first FCX Clarity cars became available in California. In November of that same year, another fleet was leased to government employees in Japan.
At the time of the FCX Clarity's debut in 2008, the Japanese auto industry, led by Honda and Toyota, was out in front of American car makers in developing green technologies. In 1997, Toyota launched the Prius, the world's first mass-produced hybrid car. The Prius debuted in the U.S. in 2000 and went on to dominate the hybrid-vehicle market. American auto giants such as General Motors were criticized for maintaining a focus on producing gas-guzzling sport utility vehicles and small trucks for too long, even as consumer demand shifted toward more fuel-efficient, eco-friendly cars.

When 2 Win/Lose people get together - that is, when 2 determined, stubborn, ego-invested individuals interact - the result will be Lose-Lose. Both will lose. Both will become vindictive & want to "get back" or "get even," blind to the fact that revenge is a 2-edged sword.
