✔ June 17, 2013

Good afternoon / almost evening! What a busy few day's it's been! Let's see, I last left off on Friday morning. Kyle drove himself to the library & when I got home I made French toast for breakfast, cleaned the house, picked Kyle up from the library, surfed eBay, checked facebook & took my game turns, read the next day of Fireproofing my marriage & did that exercise, played w/ Spingredients on my iPad Mini & came up with a wonderful
dinner for Pete, hand knitted, went out to Arby's for lunch, took the dogs out, worked on my plastic canvas & watched half of Vanilla Sky until Pete got home from work & we settled into our nighttime routine. My Sims game for Friday was Lone Wolff Manor My Sim Quinn went to the University on a distinguished phys ed award & has been going to classes. Saturday morning I took the dogs out, got the mail, & then waited for Pete to be ready to head out & take care of some banking, finished that & then went to pick up our new sofa (1st pic) & we love it! It's a dual leather reclining sofa & it not only looks great, but is SO comfortable! When we got home with the sofa strapped into the back of my truck, it
was a race to get the old living room furniture disassembled & out the back door, get the floor swept & mopped, get the new sofa unstrapped, out of the truck, & in the front door BEFORE it rained. It was a cloudy day here on Saturday & I knew the rain was coming. We made it inside w/ the new leather sofa FIFTEEN MINUTES before it started raining. Phew! Once we were all done Pete wanted to take it for a test run
so we watched TV for a bit & then it was finally time for breakfast (at 6:30p). I got my package in the mail from the Ravelry swap that I was in (6th pic) & am so happy with all the cool stuff I got! I disconnected the DirecTV hardware in my crafting room & set up my iPad Mini as a little server for Amazon Instant Video & tested it out w/ a couple videos & a movie trailer. Works great! The last thing I did before we fell
into our nighttime routine for the evening was pay my bills for this paycheck. Saturday's game was LizC864 5 (3rd pic) & since this game was pre-seasons, I started it off in the spring. My Sim headed off to the university w/ a distinguished fine arts award & has been working on his skills. Sunday started out w/ an early morning FD call for a suspicious person, but being that my radio batteries & charger are dead &
there's NOWHERE that I can go to listen to Collin County Fire Ops, I have no idea what happened or who responded. All I know is that my iPad, iPhone, & Pager went off. When I woke up much later & very sore from moving furniture the day before, I worked on my Bavarian crochet & watched a movie, then worked on my board knitting while watching another movie, went through the Sunday paper, surfed eBay, checked facebook & took my game turns, did my Fireproof for the day, made sure the iPad app of the day was working on my
Website,& then I headed out to lunch w/ Pete to Wendy's & after that we went to Wal Mart to pick up groceries, supplies, & yarn. My Sims game for Sunday was LizC864 7 (4th & 5th pics) & my Sim Liz had a son, Orlando (2nd gen) who's easily impressed & grumpy. He's a Pisces who likes soul music, sushi, & the color white. After having the baby, Liz went to the university on a distinguished fine arts award & has been
working on her skills. We went to bed pretty late last night, so I woke up late today & I took the dogs out, loaded up Amazon Prime & bought Pitch Perfect. I spoke to Pete a couple different times, got the mail, the FD got toned out to a commercial fire alarm, & I spoke to Chris who confirmed that there's no way to listen to Collin County Fire Ops ... ANYWHERE. Oh well. I no longer have ANY idea what's going on in our area. It's a media black out. Ah well, I've been listening to scanners since I was VERY young & bought my 1st one at our local FD flea market ... those days are now done. No more knowing what's going on in my area. It's too bad some people ruined it for the rest of us. Some people show up on scenes & get in the way & some people use the information for less than good intentions. Today's Sims game is a brand new game called Winter Retreat built by the extremely talented Curtis Paradis (7th & 8th pics). I started this game out in the summer & created a Sim named Kyle who's a kleptomaniac, avant garde, brave, good, & a daredevil. His lifetime wish is to be an International Super Spy. He likes fish & chips, custom music, & the color black. He's a Libra. His furry companion is Edward, a Newfoundland who's lazy, playful, & aggressive. Kyle went to the university towards a technology degree which will help him in the law enforcement field. Based on his traits & career choice, he'll be working on his street art, painting, sculpting, logic, & athletic skills whenever he as the time. I hope all you fathers out there had a wonderful Father's Day! My 47th birthday is tomorrow!

Cotton swab was invented by Leo Gerstenzang, who attached cotton balls to the ends of a toothpick & called the product "Baby Gays"; the brand name was later changed to Q-tips.

Father Bear, Mother Bear, &, of course, Baby Bear also deserve a mention in today's top 10 below, especially after experiencing that horrible "home invasion."

Pacific Grenadier fish live under intense pressure at the bottom of the ocean. When they're brought to the surface, gases in their bladder expand rapidly, popping their stomachs out of their mouths & bugging out their eyes.

Someone has personally identified over 30 separate methods of human influence - as separate as empathy is from confrontation, example from persuasion. Most people have only 3 or 4 of these methods in their repertoire, starting usually with reasoning, &, if that doesn't work, moving to flight or fight. How liberating it is to accept the idea that I can learn new methods of human influence instead of constantly trying to use old ineffective methods to "shape up" someone else!

You'd think that a day to honor 1 of our 2 parents would have an easy time getting support, but Congress defeated not 1 but 2 attempts to formalize the day! It took 40 years for Father's Day to become a national holiday.

Your lucky words this week are: dumpling, bimbo, & Waffle House.
