Good morning! It's Wednesday, cold & cloudy outside. Yesterday I checked my My AT&T page, went through the mail, thought I was going to sit down & crochet for a while but then had to get up & do some FD stuff (setting up new members in the Tuesday e-mail reminder system). I did the best I could with it, but none of the new guys are getting phone pages from me because I was never given the information needed to set that up. See, I not only need their phone number, but also the CARRIER to be able to send them phone pages about Tuesday evening events at the FD. This was better than last week though when I was told someone didn't receive a notification & I said; "But of course they didn't, they're not a member of our department." If you want me to send out pages to members, I NEED TO KNOW WHO THEY ARE! If you don't tell me, that's not my fault. I'm not psychic. Once I got the new members set up in the e-mail/page system (well, the e-mail part of it anyway), I sent out the reminder for maintenance that was going to be held that evening & then went back to the living room for a 2nd attempt at crocheting. :) I completed another color stripe on the afghan I'm working on (the afghan is tri-colored & each color stripe consists of 6 rows). I can do 6 rows every 2 hours, so figure 1 color stripe = 1 movie. Pete joined me & he worked on pulling apart a dead XBox while I crocheted during a show he likes. A dead XBox has a lot of useful things in it from dual fans to liquid cooled heat syncs. After his show ended he went back to his PC & I spent the 2nd half of the 2-hour stretch watching the last half of a movie called Road Rage. Nice black Dodge dually in that movie. Old & beat up, but fast & strong. When I finished crocheting we went up into Princeton to pick up Kyle from the library & Josh from his other house that he stays at on his days off. I decided to check out the library & maybe get a library card & check out a book or 2. That library is TINY. They didn't have much, so I didn't get a card. They have a lot, but it's mostly all in storage. They have more books than space at the moment, but that's about to change as soon as the new library is completed & they move into the new building. I also have a couple truckloads of DIY books I can donate when they're ready including the entire Time Life Home Repair & Improvement series. I've never been able to throw a book in the garbage & I have such a huge collection of books that I'm completely out of real estate. DIY, relationship, decorating, organizing, crafting ... I've got my OWN little library's worth of books. I just hope their new building is large enough or I may have to donate to McKinney instead. When we got home I went to work on eBay. Every book I have is being sent through eBay ONCE. If it sells, great. If not, it gets boxed up to donate to the library. I checked facebook for the day, Google+ for the week, & then finally made it to the LCFD (a little over an hour late) but was lucky I got there at all because in between all the stuff I normally do, I've got Pete home & preparing his resume & looking for a new job, Kyle, Josh, Eve in text, cats, dogs ... my days are packed! I did make it to the LCFD though. I got some stuff done, but not everything I needed to do. I still need to enter a bunch of stuff into Quicken. Maybe I can get there early enough next week to get it done IF I get there at all next week with all the craziness going on around here. I'm tryin' guys ... I really am. I never did get to my needlepoint yesterday & I'm 2 weeks behind in my latch hook. Not that you can really be BEHIND in a craft, but it's been 2 weeks & I can't stand having projects sit around for years only partially completed. Am I THAT busy? Really? I don't even have a full-time job outside the home! Being a wife & mother is a triple-time job though. 24/7/365 + my eBay business = not much time for hobbies ... even though I do try still. I'm stubborn that way. As for Sims, my favorite & ONLY completely non-productive relaxation ... it's been 3 weeks tomorrow since I've played. I miss my Sims. Today is Ash Wednesday.
On February 13, 2008, a California
judge rules that the actor Mel Gibson, star of such movies as the
Academy Award-winning "Braveheart" and the "Mad Max" and "Lethal Weapon"
series, has successfully completed the terms of his no-contest plea to
misdemeanor drunk driving.
The 50-year-old Gibson made headlines
after he was stopped for speeding and arrested on suspicion of driving
under the influence (DUI) of alcohol in the early morning hours of July
28, 2006, on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California. The actor,
who was driving a Lexus LS 430, reportedly had an open bottle of
tequila on the seat next to him. A breathalyzer test revealed his
blood-alcohol level was above California's legal limit. Details of the
incident were leaked to the press later that same day and a media frenzy
ensued after it was revealed that Gibson had made anti-Semitic remarks
to the Jewish police officer who arrested him.
Gibson publicly
apologized for his behavior and in August 2006 his attorney entered a
plea on the actor's behalf of no contest to one count of driving with a
blood-alcohol content higher than 0.08 percent. A judge sentenced Gibson
to three years probation, along with 4 1/2 months of Alcoholics
Anonymous meetings five times a week followed by 7 1/2 months of
meetings three times a week. Additionally, the actor was ordered to
enter an alcohol-abuse rehab program for three months and had his
license restricted for 90 days.
Gibson is far from the only
Hollywood celebrity to be involved in a drunk-driving case. In 2007,
Kiefer Sutherland, the star of the hit TV show "24," pled guilty to a
DUI charge in California and was sentenced to 48 days in jail. Also in
2007, Lane Garrison, of TV's "Prison Break," pled guilty to a DUI and
vehicular manslaughter for the 2006 death of a high school student who
was a passenger in the actor's Land Rover when he crashed it into a
tree. Garrison was sentenced to 40 months in prison and ordered to pay
restitution to the victims and their families. (Two other teenagers in
Garrison's vehicle survived the crash.) Nearly 13,000 people across
America died in drunk-driving related crashes in 2007, according to the
U.S. Department of Transportation.

Many of you I know are from out of town. And normally I give you some tops, but tonight I want to give you a little warning that right now Burbank is in the grip of terror. The city is being terrorized in the last few days by a blind peeping Tom. What happens is, he sneaks up to an open window & his dog describes what's going on. -Johnny Carson 1979
