My only debt, 4 digits large, has been paid off completely today! How nice it's going to be to not get that bill every month & have to take a percentage of each paycheck out to go to paying off credit. No more large interest rate. Now all I have is what ever little crafting stuff I buy on eBay & fuel in my truck. I feel rich! That's a HUGE weight off my shoulders. No more debt. I am now officially DEBT FREE! If I had a Smart car instead of a full-sized pickup I'd REALLY feel rich after filling the tank. LOL! Ran into a problem trying to pay off the debt though. I have always paid my bill online, twice a month (double payments to knock it down faster). This morning I went to their site, clicked on the full balance & clicked pay now. ERROR: THIS PAYMENT EXCEEDS THE CHECK LIMIT. What?! I called the company directly & there's a $5 fee for paying by phone. Buttwipes. Fine, it's worth it to be rid of this large debt. I finally get to a human & tell him I'd like to make a payment. How much? The full balance. Silence. Then; "Uhhh ... I don't know if I can take that large of a payment all at once." You're kidding me, right? Same problem by phone? There's a daily limit as to how much you can pay off per day. You have GOT to be kidding me. Do you want your money or what?! It turns out that the daily payment limit by phone is a little more than the daily limit online & I squeaked under the line by $2.50. Had my bill been just $3 more, I could NOT have paid the full balance today. What a sneaky, underhanded trick. MAKE you stay in debt even when you have the money to pay off the debt. Keep collecting those high interest rates. Not too thrilled with that company, can you tell? Anyway, I'm not debt free & going to stay that way. No more large 4-digit loans to spoil the kids at Christmas. That was painful. Then they kept sending me credit line increases, then I'd see something that I couldn't get locally ... I'd add another purchase, when our daughter moved & I took over her old bedroom & converted it into my office, I furnished it through this company (bookshelves, etc) ... I owed them a lot. I'm glad that's over. I updated the apps on my phone yesterday, went to work on eBay, checked facebook & then crawled into my massage chair from some relaxation & 5 Card Slingo. After turning myself into mush, I decided it catch up on my AOL PSP e-mail instead of doing Latch Hook (which I haven't done in 2 weeks now). I picked Kyle up from school & then he cooked lunch for us. Pete & I relaxed together for a bit, I took a shower, did monthly cleaning, went through the mail & then Pete wanted to head out for dinner. Sounded great except when I got out of the shower it started leaking. Wouldn't shut off ALL the way. It was a very fast drip, almost running. Pete showered after me & when he got out it was even worse. Dinner delayed ... must fix leak 1st. He tried & saw that we needed parts from home Depot. We raced there just before they closed for the night, got what we needed, got a quick dinner at Burger King (did I shave my legs for THIS?) ;) & then headed back to repair the shower. While Pete was working on the plumbing, I rearranged my office. Not the furniture, but the "stuff". Too much stuff. I got it looking much better & like how it turned out. After all that we settled down for the night into the regular nighttime routine. LCFD Maintenance tonight.

Boot Camp Challenge dynamically changes the beat of YOUR music to perfectly match your movements. Research shows that music distracts the brain during exercise and faster music causes people to accept and even prefer a greater degree of effort. This means you will work harder without trying (or without even feeling the difference), you will get better results from the increased effort, and most importantly, the time will fly by.
(beat-sync is available on iOS version 4.1 or better)

GM reports record loss, offers buyouts to 74,000 workers (2008):
On this day in 2008, in an attempt to cut costs, struggling auto giant General Motors (GM) offers buyouts to all 74,000 of its hourly employees in the U.S. represented by the United Auto Workers (UAW) union. The move came after GM lost $38.7 billion in 2007, which at the time was the largest loss ever experienced by any car maker. (Two weeks later, on February 26, the loss was adjusted by $4.6 billion, to $43.3 billion.)
GM offered its employees a range of buyout options, including a $140,000 lump payment to those who worked at the company for at least 10 years and agreed to give up their health benefits and pension. GM's goal was to replace the employees who accepted buyouts with new workers brought in at a lower pay scale. At the time, a veteran GM worker (who belonged to the UAW) had an average base salary of $28.12 an hour, but once such benefits as health-care coverage and pension were added in, the cost to GM jumped to $78.21, according to a report by CNNMoney.com.
Some 19,000 GM workers ended up taking buyouts; however, the company's troubles were far from over, as gas prices reached record highs in the summer of 2008 and auto sales continued to slump amidst a growing global economic crisis. GM was criticized for focusing too heavily on its sport utility vehicles and small trucks and being slow to respond to an increasing consumer demand for smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicles. In December 2008, the federal government stepped in with a $13.4 billion loan to help keep GM afloat (Chrysler, the third-largest U.S. automaker, also received federal bailout funds). Also in 2008, Japan-based Toyota surpassed GM as the world's largest automaker, a title the American company, which was founded in 1908, had held since 1931. At its peak in the early 1960s, GM made more than half of all the cars and trucks purchased in the U.S.
In March 2009, President Barack Obama announced that in order to receive additional federal aid and avoid possible bankruptcy, both GM and Chrysler would be required to make deep concessions and develop radical restructuring plans. Additionally, GM's chief executive Rick Wagoner, who had held the top job since 2000, was forced to resign immediately. Nevertheless, on April 30, 2009, Chrysler filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and announced it would enter a partnership with Italian automaker Fiat. GM filed for bankruptcy a month later, on June 1.
