It was a dark & rainy day ... as I sat at my computer, ... yeah, like I can be a writer. HA! :) I've thought about it, & I can type fast enough, but it's the lack of imagination that would get me. Writers block & all that. I have thought about turning my dreams into books or short stories, but nah. Who would buy them? That's a lot of time going into something that would probably never make a dime. That & I don't have all the education required. Proper use of the
English language, punctuation, etc. I do better than most I see on facebook, but I'm nowhere near "author quality". As I was telling you yesterday, by best friend Ann-Marie forwarded me the money to get the AnyTime Organizer Deluxe 14. I love it! The 1st thing I tried out was the Notebook. I used it to compose a letter to Pete. I then spoke to Pete on the phone for a bit (he called me, no ... I didn't write him a letter & then immediately call him). I picked Josh
up from work & then came back & cleaned the bathroom counter, dusted the bedroom walls, fed the pets, was going to clean the dining room bar but there was a child sitting there w/ 2 laptops going at once, watered the living room plant, swept the closet, & brought the trash cans up from the road. After that, it was already pretty late (busy day ... just not scheduled stuff), so we ate a quick dinner of leftovers, watched Hawaii 5-0 & headed to bed. There was a call for the FD during the night & it turned out to be a teen suicide. I received an e-mail from the school about it this morning & our son knew the other student well since they're the same age. My heart goes out to the family, friends, & fellow students. I can't even imagine how I would handle something like that as a parent. I woke up early this morning & loaded up Sims. With Kyle at school & Josh & Pete at work, it was the perfect time. I completed the dining room on Breckenridge (3rd pic) & then loaded up a new house made by a talented other called Grandmother's House & placed it in Cornucopia (2nd pic). For this house I created Faith, a star quality green thumb who is ambitious, a savvy sculptor, & absent minded. She wants to be leader of the free world & likes cobbler, custom music, & the color green. She's an Aquarius. Her furry companion is Renesmee. A calico who is neat, playful, & noisy. They started out in the summer with a nice 75° @ 8:a. While at work, Faith met Gonzalo Payne. He's elderly, but they soon became close & right before they married he turned into a vampire, so even though he's elderly & she's a young adult, they'll probably live almost the same amount of time which works out great. Faith & Gonzalo married & had a son, Gonzalo Jr. (2nd gen). Gonzalo Jr. is friendly & clumsy, is a Leo who likes Chinese music, veggi rolls, & the color orange. He's also a vampire, so whatever skills he decides to learn, he'll probably master them before he graduates. He was still a toddler, but has been taught to talk, walk, & is potty trained already when I closed the game for the day. A wonderful gift came in the mail today. UPS delivered a brand new TV. A gift from my best friend Ann-Marie! The TV looks & works great & it can also be used an a computer monitor. I hooked the TV up in the bedroom with the old boxy TV used to be. It's SO SMALL in there! I started to rethink having it in the bedroom. I started thinking, since it's so small in there, but 2" larger than my current monitor, why not put the old box TV back & swap out my monitor on here? I like that idea. Funny how the same object can look tiny over there but huge over here. Now what to do with my current monitor? I looked & it has nowhere to hook up the DirecTV box to it, so I can't use it as a TV. Then I remembered my laptop. The monitor is broken. I can use this monitor on my laptop! Sweet! Now I have to FIND my laptop. I asked Pete where it was & he thinks I should forget about the laptop & use the new TV/monitor as a SECOND monitor in here. WOW! Great idea!! That's why he gets paid the big bucks. 2 monitors ... wow! Hmmm ... what would I do with 2 monitors? I could keep ICS up ALL the time in one monitor & do my facebook, Words w/ Friends, Google, eBay thing on the new & larger monitor. I like it. I'm sure I'll figure something out. WOOHOO! Thank you Ann-Marie! Again!! I feel so bad though. What to get her? Not that I have a dime to my name at the moment ... but if I did / when I do ... what would I get her? What do you get someone who has everything they want & need? She's always taken care of me. If we lived closer I could at least take her out to lunch, invite her over for dinner ... stuff like that. But being 1,400 miles apart isn't helping. This friendship is so lop-sided right now that I REALLY feel bad. Ideas? Anyone? City Council Meeting tonight. I get a feeling I'm not going to make it though. I'm so backed up with everything today & Kyle isn't feeling well. He's down about the loss of his classmate. He said he knew him well ... but I don't know if they were friends or what? I need to sit him down & talk to him. Get him to open up. He can't keep things like this bottled up inside. It's not healthy.

On this day in 2011, Gabrielle Giffords, a U.S. congresswoman from Arizona,
is critically injured when a man goes on a shooting spree during a
constituents meeting held by the congresswoman outside a Tucson-area
supermarket. Six people died in the attack and another 13, including
Giffords, were wounded. The gunman, 22-year-old Jared Lee Loughner, was
taken into custody at the scene.
Giffords, an Arizona native and Democrat who was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2006, arrived at the Casas Adobes Safeway store at 10 a.m. on January 8 to host a Congress at Your Corner event. The popular politician, just the third woman from Arizona ever elected to Congress, sat outside at a table, speaking with constituents who had lined up to see her. Ten minutes later, Loughner, an Arizona resident, approached the 40-year-old Giffords and shot her at point-blank range with a 9 mm semiautomatic pistol. He then opened fire on the people standing in line. A short time later, while Loughner attempted to reload his gun, bystanders tackled him and held him until police arrived. Giffords, who was hit with a bullet that fractured her skull and pierced the left side of her brain, was transported to a Tucson hospital. Some early news reports claimed she had not survived the shooting.
Investigators soon discovered evidence at Loughner's home indicating he had targeted the congresswoman in an assassination plot, and that he had a history of posting anti-government rants on the Internet. It also came to light that in the fall of 2010 Loughner was informed by officials at Tucson's Pima Community College, where he was a student, that after exhibiting disruptive, bizarre behavior in classes and in the library he would not be allowed to return to school until he got a mental-health clearance. Rather than complying, Loughner dropped out of college.

On January 12, 2011, President Barack Obama
spoke at a large public memorial service in Tucson for the victims of
the shooting spree. Among the dead were a 9-year-old girl, a 63-year-old
federal judge and a 30-year-old member of Giffords' staff. Later that
month, Giffords was transferred to a rehabilitation hospital in Houston,
Texas, where she
would relearn how to walk and talk. Also in late January, Loughner
pleaded not guilty to a series of federal charges against him, including
the attempted assassination of a congressional member. In March, he
pleaded not guilty to an additional 49 counts stemming from the
shootings.
That May, Giffords traveled from the hospital in Houston to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida to watch the launch of the final flight of space shuttle Endeavour, commanded by her husband, astronaut Mark Kelley. The following month, the congresswoman was released from the rehab hospital and began outpatient treatment. On August 1, she made a surprise return to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives for the first time since she was shot, in order to vote in favor of passing a deal to raise the nation's debt ceiling.

In November 2011, Giffords and her husband released a memoir, "Gabby:
A Story of Hope and Courage." To coincide with the book's launch,
Giffords gave her first television interview since the shooting. During
the interview, the congresswoman appeared upbeat but had difficulty
forming complete sentences. On January 25, 2012, Giffords resigned from
Congress in order to concentrate on her continuing recovery. In August
of that same year, Loughner pleaded guilty to 19 of the crimes he was
charged with, including killing six people. As part of the plea
agreement, federal prosecutors agreed not to seek the death penalty
against him. On November 8, 2012, Loughner was sentenced to life in
prison without parole.
It always amazes me how much money a person can save by brown-bagging it at work. In the course of a week, you could pocket $25-$50.
