Good afternoon! Kyle is at school, Josh is up in Princeton, & Pete has gone back to work. I hope he's OK ... the past week has been really rough on him. I've got the house to myself until Kyle gets off the bus. Yesterday we took a long nap so the blog didn't go up until much later even though I started it fairly early. I cleaned the bathroom counter, dusted the bedroom walls, fed the pets, straightened the bar stool, dusted the video game system, & swept the closet. I started to go to work on eBay, but 2nd day in a row I ended up having to do something else instead. I'm not going to make much money at this rate. I checked facebook, did a little LCFD stuff, chatted with my Avon Lady for a little bit, put my new Avon stuff away, & then hand knitted for a bit while I watched the end of the Whose Line DVD. Pete & I went out to Culver's for lunch, but by the time we actually GOT out of the house Culver's was closed & we ended up at Steak n Shake instead. When we got back he wanted to check his eBay so I came in here & played Words w/ Friends, checked facebook, started a new game that looks just LIKE Words w/ Friends, played solitaire, & then finally went in his office & asked him is he's running a warehouse on eBay or what? He said he got distracted. Well, now it was well after midnight but it was a Chicago Fire night & I was going to watch that before bed no matter what. It turned out to be a rerun, but Pete started up CSI & we watched that before getting to bed somewhere after 2:a. So much for getting to bed earlier this year. This is why I don't make new year's resolutions. They don't ever work out. They're more like a wish list. In this case, a wish list of things I don't really have control over unless I go to bed alone every night & try to get to sleep through all the noise of the rest of the house still being awake. This morning I switched AnyTime to month view & added the 2nd item for Thursdays. I finished sorting the bag of 2k seed beads & am now ready to start stringing the loom. I have a nice pattern picked out & will take a pick when I complete it. :)

Everyone knows that Ferraris are expensive cars, but would you believe that even their brochures are pricey? In 1985, a brochure for the 1960 Ferrari 250 Le Mans was sold at auction for £1,070. It's still a world record today.
"Feeding time at the zoo" is labor intensive! To feed just 2 pandas, 1,200 lbs of bamboo must be cut & prepared weekly, & to satisfy a male lion's appetite, 15 lbs of meat is required each day!
If you regularly go over your minutes, try to change your calling plan, even if you're in the middle of your contract. 1 estimate puts the median charge for exceeding your monthly minutes at $85/mo. Your ideal move may be switching to an unlimited prepaid plan - which includes talk, text, & data for a fixed fee, sometimes as low as $50/mo. Potential Savings: $1,020 (the median overage charge of $85 X 12.
It becomes obvious that if we want to make relatively minor changes in our lives, we can perhaps appropriately focus on our attitudes & behaviors. But if we want to make significant, quantum changes, we need to work on our basic paradigms.
It's estimated that over 4.5 billion people visit zoos annually, so it seems the zoo animals are getting to see the bigger show!

After you grab the item, price out the competition, and make it through the interminable checkout line, the last thing you want to do is search your wallet or purse for Best Buy Bonanza Card or PetSmart Eternal Allegiance Rewards tag, or whatever they call those slight discount and bonus card items. Scan them into Key Ring Reward Cards, or punch in the numbers if the code is too worn, and you'll always have a backup you can show the cashier to move things along.

By the end of 2005, Pixar had become a giant in the
world of movie animation, and on this day in 2006, the company that
brought the world the blockbuster hits Toy Story (1995), A Bug’s Life (1998), Monsters, Inc. (2001), Finding Nemo (2003) and The Incredibles (2004) was sold to the Walt Disney Company, their longtime distributor, for a staggering $7.4 billion.
Since
1993, when Disney and Pixar signed their first three-picture deal,
Pixar’s films had won 19 Academy Awards and grossed more than $3 billion
at the box office. Their pioneering techniques in digital animation--Toy Story
was the first animated film to be completely computer-generated--had
set a new standard, blazing a trail that other companies had struggled
to follow. In the same time period, Disney’s own animation unit had
released more traditional animated films that were either modest
successes, such as Lilo & Stich (2002), or flops, such as Home on the Range (2004). Its first completely computer-generated effort, Chicken Little (2005) was profitable, but had nowhere near the success of The Incredibles, which grossed $200 million domestically and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film.
Despite
the success of the Pixar-Disney collaboration, Pixar CEO (and Apple
co-founder) Steve Jobs had reportedly clashed with Disney’s longtime
chairman and CEO, Michael Eisner, and in January 2004, Jobs announced
that Pixar would begin talks with other distributors. Roy Disney, the
nephew of Walt Disney subsequently led a shareholder revolt, and in the
spring of 2004 Eisner received a 45 percent no-confidence vote from
shareholders and was stripped of his chairmanship.
Eisner
announced he would step down as CEO in September 2005, one year before
his contract was set to expire. His replacement was the company’s
president, Robert A. Iger. One of Iger’s first moves was to work on
repairing the relationship with Pixar, whose latest contract with Disney
was set to expire in June 2006, with the delivery of its next film, Cars.
Under
the deal announced that January, and formally completed on May 5, Jobs
would serve as a director on Disney’s board, while John Lasseter, a
former Disney animator and the leading creative force behind Pixar’s
films, would become chief operating officer of the animation studios, as
well as the principle creative adviser at Walt Disney Imagineering,
which designs and builds the company’s theme parks. In a conscious
effort by Pixar to maintain its unique creative process and
non-traditional corporate culture, the two companies remained physically
separate, with Pixar maintaining its headquarters in Emeryville, California (Disney is based in Burbank).
In June 2007, Pixar and Disney released Ratatouille, which would become Pixar’s third-highest grossing film, behind Finding Nemo and The Incredibles, and win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
