I'm so proud of our son Kyle. He's really taking school & work seriously this year. I mean he's really into it! He's become so serious & so grown up almost overnight. And he did it in a healthy way, he still knows how to have fun, still takes some time to unwind & play some games on the PC in between all the responsibilities. He's really got things worked out & got a good plan. My ONLY complaint is that he ditched doing chores in the process. It was down to only Kyle & I doing the daily household chores & now that he's no longer doing them (I've tried reminding him), that just leaves me doing half the chores & the other half going undone, which as each day passes gets worse as they pile up on his side of the chore board. Yesterday was insane, so much going on! I managed to get a panel of the afghan knitted before meet the teachers. A teacher that Kyle had last year who decided that she's going to try to order him to NOT ride his bike to & from school (excuse me)? Yeah, that ended up being a long discussion of who has the right of way on the road, the legality of a 16-year-old riding his bike, responsibility, fresh air, exercise, etc. After that I had to deal with my daughter who has been over 1 year out of school now & still no job. Instead, she calls me again to tell me how much FUN she's having. OK, I'm tired of hearing about fun.
You're not supposed to retire the same day you graduate high school. GET A JOB! Our kids are polar opposites in almost every way. She won't get off her
keester & do anything, he won't slow down. Somewhere in there
there's a happy medium, & I guess that would be Andrew. He seems to
have a healthy mix of fun & work. On a happier note, my
mother-in-law sent a box. She & Eve had told me about the box so I
would watch for it & they told me there were 2 gfts for Kyle. The
1st was an airplane paperweight & he loved it. The 2nd was a t-shirt
that had "rock, paper, scissors, lizard, Spock" on
the front & the rules of which one beats which on the back. He &
I BOTH love that shirt! COOL! What neither of them did tell me was that
there was a gift in there for me too! I posted the pic on facebook
yesterday. It's a firefighter t-shirt. SWEET! Thank you Mom! :D Sometime
after all the madness & at some late & ridiculous hour, I finally sat down & loaded up Sims. Above
is the rather LARGE-chested Sim, Beth, who was created to live in a
house I built called Exmoor that was placed in the original Sunset
Valley. She met her husband at work (her boss) & they had a son,
Daniel, who's easily impressed, loves the outdoors, is shy, & brave.
Looks like he MIGHT become a firefighter after he graduates. He's met
his future wife, Suzanne, in grade school. Possible grass fire in Princeton ... I
may be taking a break here in a minute if we get toned for mutual aid. The location is closer to Branch's district so I'm guessing they'll get toned before us if Princeton decides to call for help.
Anyway, I don't usually screen-shot pets in the game, but the pure-breed
dog they adopted is beautiful & I just had to get a pic of her. :) Yep, they just asked for a brush truck from Branch. Ah, it IS a grass fire, about an acre & a half. They just requested a tanker from Branch as well. City council meeting Tuesday. For some reason I'm exceptionally tired today. I'm usually more awake by now, but my eyes are dry & I feel like I can very easily go to sleep. Not good considering it's almost noon. I wonder why I'm so tired today.
Anatomy-wise, what is the meaning of the slang term cankle?
Demotic:
Common, popular.
Stoppard understands that this was the 1st demotic music, that knew no class, ethnic or national boundaries.
You may recognize the root of "demotic" in words like "democracy" & "demography," whose source is the Greek word demos, meaning "people." "Demotic" is often used to denote everyday forms of language (as opposed to literary or highbrow versions). It entered English in the early 1800s & originally designated a form of ancient Egyptian cursive script, which by the 5th century B.C. had come into use everywhere in Egypt for business & literary purposes (in contrast to the more complex, hieratic script retained by the clergy). "Demotic" has a newer specialized sense as well, referring to a form of Modern Greek that is based on everyday speech & that since 1976 has been the official language of Greece.

Richard Jewell, the hero security guard turned Olympic bombing suspect, dies at age 44 of natural causes at his Georgia home.
On
July 27, 1996, during the Summer Games in Atlanta, a pipe bomb with
nails went off in crowded Centennial Olympic Park, killing one woman and
injuring 111 other people. Shortly before the explosion, Richard
Jewell, who was working as a temporary security guard in the area,
discovered a suspicious-looking backpack abandoned beneath a park bench.
Jewell alerted police to the backpack, which held a bomb, and moved
people out of harm’s way before it exploded. In the aftermath of the
bombing, Jewell was praised as a hero for his actions. However, three
days later, the media reported that Jewell was being investigated as a
suspect in the case. Although he was never arrested or charged with any
crime, for the next three months, Jewell faced intense scrutiny from
both law enforcement officials and the media, who combed through his
background and tracked his movements. Even after the Justice Department
officially cleared Jewell of any involvement in the bombing in late
October 1996, some people still viewed him with suspicion.
Jewell
later filed libel lawsuits against several major media companies and
reached settlements with CNN and NBC, among others. Before his death on
August 29, 2007, Jewell, who suffered from diabetes and other health
problems, worked as a sheriff’s deputy in Georgia. In 2006, during the
10-year anniversary of the Atlanta Olympics, Georgia governor Sonny
Perdue publicly commended Jewell for saving lives at Centennial Park.
In May 2003, police in North Carolina
captured Eric Rudolph, the real person responsible for the Olympic
bombing, as well as the bombings of several abortion clinics and a gay
bar. Rudolph, who eluded law enforcement authorities for years by living
in the Appalachian wilderness, eventually pled guilty to his crimes and
was sentenced to life in prison.

No matter how many beautiful, impractical shoes you take with you on your great escape, be sure to bring a low-heeled pair that you've already broken in.
Put your napkin to the left side of your plate whenever you excuse yourself from the table during the meal. Note: Don't place your used napkin on the seat of your chair. The napkin could easily soil the seat - & you, too! - when you return to the table & sit down. Instead of folding or crumpling the napkin, just leave it in loose folds that keep any soiled parts out of sight. At the end of the meal, leave your napkin to the left or, if your plate has been removed, in the center of the place setting.
Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. addressed Americans in their living rooms in his televised "I Have a Dream" speech yesterday in 1963. He delivered the speech at the now-famous civil rights march on Washington, D.C., where demonstrators urged Congress to pass civil rights legislation.
