Yesterday was a lot calmer than the day before. Phew! I found my best friend, thank you to all who helped me get in contact with her. I'm glad she's OK & even though she's my older "sister" I still yelled at her like she was my child. "Thank GOD you're OK ... now don't you EVER scare me like that again! Do you understand me?!" I also found someone on facebook from my distant past who just joined recently. Long time no hear from & how the heck are ya?! Welcome to facebook! :)

I started a new afghan last night. Same as the one before, but different colors & yarn & this time I chose to make it symmetrical instead of just random color blocks. I think it's going to look great & the 1st panel is showing lots of promise towards a really cool pattern. I wish I was better at creating the pattern though. That was rough! 9 blocks X 8 blocks. That's standard. I know how many blocks of each color I have based on whatever yarn I choose. No problem. But creating a cool & symmetrical pattern with that information? Ugh! I won't be working on it tonight though, although I'm excited & would love to. Nope, even better ... tonight is Friday night. That means it's Sims 3 night! I love Sims 3 night! The only reason I don't make more nights Sims 3 night is because it's not productive at all. It's pure relaxation & fun ... perfect for wrapping up the week on a Friday night! The crocheting & knitting are productive. LCFD business meeting Tuesday.

Deadly earthquake strikes Turkey (1999):

Just after 3 a.m., an earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale strikes northwestern Turkey, home to one-third of the country's population and half its industry. The epicenter of the earthquake was Izmit, located 65 miles from Istanbul and on the North Anatolian fault line. The quake came at the worst possible time, when people were at home in their beds, and thousands were killed instantly as their homes collapsed on them. Thousands more died of injuries, suffocation, dehydration, or exhaustion as rescue crews scrambled to pull them from the rubble. All told, more than 17,000 people were killed and damages totaled $6.5 billion, making it one of the most devastating earthquakes of the 20th century.
