It's FRIDAY! WOO! Today was a day off for me so I've done pretty much nothing but relax today. I really enjoy my days off. :) Yesterday I went through the mail once the mailman came, listened to a podcast on my phone (that was a 1st, wish they had better stuff to choose from that I'm interested in), had a boiled egg for breakfast, cleaned the tub & dining table, folded some laundry, & cleaned the front porch. I checked eBay, picked Kyle up from school & then we went to our appointment. Pete met us there & after the appointment we all went to
Fuddrucker's for lunch (I really like that place). After we got back Pete went & did his thing so I knitted the next to last panel of the gold & white afghan on the knitting machine, checked Twitter & Woot! & then loaded up Sims. I ended up scrapping Worthington. I couldn't get it to come out right & finally just deleted it. Some houses & I just don't mix & that was one of them. Now I'm working on Sapphire Point. A very nice (so far) home for Sims that's already
very expensive because of the cars I put in the garage. 2 very high end
& expensive cars, so whatever Sims move into this house will travel
around town in style. :) After that I started up a new game with a house I downloaded from a talented other. It's called Lemon Drop Victorian. Friday was my day off, so I loaded up Sims again when I woke up & Worked on Sapphire Point a little more. Then I loaded up my Spa Specialist game. A nice relaxing game
where my Sim only has to work part time. I picked up in the spring with a cool 64° at 3:p. Aaron 2nd is my 2nd gen Sim in this game & he's artistic, good, a Sagittarius who likes hip hop music, tri-tip tofu steak, & the color spiceberry. He's insane, handy, & a great kisser. His dad Aaron got abducted by aliens & then later returned relatively unharmed other than feeling a little "probed". Aaron 2nd met & married Jenni Hones-Brown & they moved into her
house on the water's edge. I've never played this house before & it's a very nice one. It's up on pylons & the water runs right under the house in one corner. Because of this, the view from inside makes it look like you're on a boat. It's pretty cool. :) After the game I came over here & started this blog. That was YESTERDAY. Notice at the beginning of this blog it says it's Friday. Well now, it's Saturday. I had to change the date of the post up top. I was typing away, still at the beginning of my post ... hadn't even gotten to the Sims part of it yet. I had just typed about knitting the next to last panel on the knitting machine & the tones went off for Princeton FD. There was a grass fire. My specialty. I flipped over to Princeton to listen in on their talk channel & sure enough I heard Lowry Crossing. Time to get dressed! I headed to the station & was on the call 3½ hours. Sean & I were working the east side of the tree line & after laying down a wet line, we went into the woods with the reel line & tried to put out as much as we could in there. After refilling the truck, we put down another wet line & then was on standby for a little while just in case something flared back up. While on standby, the homeowner bought all of us 6 large pepperoni pizzas & a 12-pack of Coke. That was a 1st for me ... very VERY nice homeowners. During this call we also had another call for a fire public assist that was pre-planned & our Assistant Chief & 3 others went on that call. After I got back home Pete wanted to take me out to dinner (THANK YOU! I really needed that, it's much appreciated). We got home, watched Burn Notice & Elementary & headed off to bed. Which brings me to now. Saturday morning & all is well. Sorta. Kyle is in trouble with me for promising to do chores while I was on the call & when I got home 3½ hours later he was lying on the sofa watching TV with dishes piled up all over the kitchen sink. When Pete & I went out to dinner I told him to finish his chores NOW. Well, he did ... but according to Josh he was very angry about having to stop watching TV & do his chores & was throwing things into the dishwasher & managed to break one of my glasses from my brand new set that I bought to replace the old set that he broke one of the glasses to. Why is it that I can't have a COMPLETE set of glasses? just 1 glass from every set has to get broken. All I want is a FULL SET. Not several partial sets. Was that too much to ask? Anyway, we got up this morning & drove Josh to work. Happy weekend everyone & happy birthday grandma! She's 97 today. I sure hope I live that long. 3 weeks from today we'll be on the highway & Myrtle Beach bound ... in my truck! YEAH!!

Balletomane:
A devotee of ballet.
Balletomanes across the country eagerly bought tickets to the famous ballerina's final performance.
If you suspected that this word originated with the idea of a "mania" for ballet, you're correct. What you may now have guessed is that the language that inspired English-speakers to borrow the word in the 1930s was Russian. "Balletomane" derives from the Russian noun baletoman, which in turn combines the word for "ballet" (balet) & the suffix -man, from maniya (meaning "mania").
Business is only worth the income it creates. Just because it has a great location doesn't mean it will cause income to happen. Who cares if a business has a great name in the community if it doesn't create an income? Same goes with having a brand that everyone knows. If the business isn't monetizing it, then who cares how well-knows it is? All it comes down to is the net profit of the business.
On this day in 2001, Ocean’s Eleven, a caper film featuring an
all-star ensemble cast including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon,
Bernie Mac, Don Cheadle, Andy Garcia and Julia Roberts, opens in
theaters. Ocean’s Eleven was a remake of the 1960 film of the
same name, which featured so-called “Rat Pack” actors Frank Sinatra,
Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop, along with
Angie Dickinson. Directed by Steven Soderbergh, the blockbuster 2001
remake spawned the profitable sequels Ocean’s Twelve (2004) and Ocean’s Thirteen (2007).
In 1960’s Ocean’s Eleven, Frank Sinatra starred as Danny Ocean, the ringleader of a gang of 11 accomplices who plot to rob a Las Vegas
casino. At the time, the now-iconic entertainer had already won an
Academy Award, in the Best Supporting Actor category, for his
performance as an army private in Hawaii just before the Pearl Harbor attack in 1953’s From Here to Eternity, featuring Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr. Sinatra also earned a Best Actor Oscar nomination for his role as an ex-heroin addict in 1955’s The Man with the Golden Arm, with Kim Novak. Born on December 12, 1915, in Hoboken, New Jersey, Sinatra first rose to fame as a singer in the 1940s. He launched his movie career the same decade, appearing in such films as Anchors Away (1945) and Take Me Out to the Ball Game (1949), both of which co-starred Gene Kelly. Sinatra went on to star in such popular movie musicals as Guys and Dolls (1955), in which he played Nathan Detroit to Marlon Brando’s Sky Masterson, and Pal Joey (1957), with Rita Hayworth and Kim Novak. “Old Blue Eyes” also appeared in serious dramas, including The Manchurian Candidate
(1962), a political thriller co-starring Laurence Harvey, Janet Leigh
and Angela Lansbury. Sinatra’s final silver-screen appearance was a
cameo in 1984’s Cannonball Run II, starring Burt Reynolds. The Chairman of the Board died at age 82 on May 14, 1998.
George Clooney, who took on the role of Danny Ocean in the 2001 Ocean’s Eleven remake, was born on May 6, 1961, in Lexington, Kentucky. He began his acting career on television, with supporting roles on the popular sitcoms The Facts of Life and Roseanne and the drama Sisters, as well as single episodes of such programs as The Golden Girls and Murder, She Wrote. Clooney first achieved star status with his role as Dr. Doug Ross on the prime-time medical drama ER, which debuted in 1994. By the time he left ER in 1999, Clooney had appeared in such movies as Batman & Robin (1997), Out of Sight (1998), which marked the first time Clooney worked with Soderbergh, his frequent future collaborator; and Three Kings (1999). Clooney went on to starring roles in The Perfect Storm (2000), O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) and Ocean’s Eleven. The handsome actor made his directorial debut with 2002’s Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, about the 1960s and ‘70s game show host Chuck Barris, who claimed he also worked for the C.I.A.
Clooney won his first Academy Award, in the Best Supporting Actor category, for his role in Syriana (2005), a complex thriller about the oil industry. That same year, he received Best Director and Best Screenplay Oscar nominations for Good Night, and Good Luck (2005), about the 1950s
TV newsman Edward R. Murrow and his conflict with the anti-Communist
U.S. Senator Eugene McCarthy. Clooney received his first Best Actor
Oscar nomination for his performance in the title role of 2007’s legal
thriller Michael Clayton.
Don't say: "Call me if there's anything I can do."
Say instead: "Can I bring you dinner tomorrow night [or, some other specific offer to help]?"
Explore the option of fixing things rather than replacing them with often-costly new items. The cost of paying someone to fix your car / lawnmower / computer / washing machine, etc., usually will be much less expensive than purchasing a replacement.

Money merge account is a kind of mortgage accelerator program floating around out there. It's a total rip-off. You pay all of your bills out of your home equity line of credit & you have your paycheck deposited against your home equity line of credit. They pay on your mortgage with whatever is left over, promising that your mortgage will quickly if not "magically" disappear. But if you borrow money on the home equity line of credit to pay money down on the 1st mortgage, you broke even, didn't you? That's borrowing from Peter to pay Paul.
The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) is signed into law by President Bill Clinton. Clinton said he hoped the agreement would encourage other nations to work toward a broader world-trade pact.
NAFTA, a trade pact between the United States, Canada, and Mexico,
eliminated virtually all tariffs and trade restrictions between the
three nations. The passage of NAFTA was one of Clinton's first major
victories as the first Democratic president in 12 years--though the
movement for free trade in North America had begun as a Republican
initiative.
During its planning stages, NAFTA was heavily
criticized by Reform Party presidential candidate Ross Perot, who argued
that if NAFTA was passed, Americans would hear a "giant sucking sound"
of American companies fleeing the United States for Mexico, where
employees would work for less pay and without benefits. The pact, which
took effect on January 1, 1994, created the world's largest free-trade
zone.
Quiddity:
1: Whatever makes something the type that it is : essence. 2a: A trifling point : quibble. 2b: Crotchet or eccentricity.
Rembrandt seems to have had an uncanny insight into human nature; he could render a person's quiddity in a single portrait.
When it comes to synonyms of "quiddity," the Q's have it. Consider "quintessence," which shares the "essence of a thing" sense of "quiddity" (this oldest sense of "quiddity" dates from the 14th century). "Quibble" is a synonym of the "trifling point" sense, which arose from the subtler points of 16th-century academic arguments. And "quirk," like "quiddity," can refer to a person's eccentricities. Of course, "quiddity" itself derives from a "Q" word, the Latin pronoun quis, which is 1 of 2 Latin words for "who" (the other is qui). Quid, the neuter form of quis, gave rise to the Medieval Latin quidditas, which means "essence," a term that was essential to the development of the English "quiddity." However, there is now connection between "quiddity" & Harry Potter's favorite sport of Quidditch.
