April 26. 2012

Yesterday was an absolute disaster. I hardly got anything done & it sure wasn't from lack of trying. Today will be different ... I got up (super early for me) & I'm all alone. There's NO ONE here but me. What does that mean? Peace & productivity!!! I will rule the day! That's a good thing because I have yesterday AND today to do today. I managed to at least list ONE item on eBay, but I couldn't learn any new skills, I couldn't get to class, I couldn't tend to the garden ... it was a horrible waste of a day. :( City Council meeting / LCFD BBQ / Maintenance on Tuesday.

Bemuse:
1: To make confused. 2: To occupy the attention of : absorb. 3. To cause to have feelings of wry or tolerant amusement.
She observed that the public seemed more bemused by the shenanigans of celebrities than by a war being waged half a world away.
In 1735, British poet Alexander Pope lamented, in rhyme, being besieged by "a parson much bemus'd in beer." The cleric in question was apparently one of a horde of would-be poets who plagued Pope with requests that he read their verses. pope meant the parson had found his inspiration - his muse - in beer. That sense of "bemus'd" harks back to a 1705 letter in which Pope wrote of "Poets ... irrecoverably Be-mus'd." In both letter & poem, Pope used "bemused" to refer to being inspired by or devoted to one of the Muses, the Greek sister goddesses of art, music, & literature. The lexicographers who followed him, however, interpreted "bemus'd in beer" as meaning "left confused by beer," & their confusion gave rise to the modern sense of "bemused."

Emotion is a key element to getting out of debt & staying out of debt. You've got to get steaming mad at debt & attack it with a vengeance. Really let it sink in, & think about how many times this debt has negatively impacted your life. Think about all the important stuff, all the great stuff, & all the fun stuff you could have done with that money!

Household:
Avoid rearranging your clutter. The goal is to get it out the door so you can use the space you have for relaxation, family time, & fun!

How to comfort, not offend:
Don't say: "It's God's will."
Say instead: "She was an extraordinary person."

Makes Sense:
Let's face it, we all need a little help with our family budgets. I believe we are all looking for common sense solutions and answers on how to save money for the more important things. I am in that same position as well. I decided to start to create and collect any money-saving tips, advice, and recommendations that I could. I built MakesCents to capture all of these ongoing ideas in three main categories (Family, Food, Home) to help you and others. Together we can be smart, thrifty, and wise with our finances. It just MakesCents.
