Had a good weekend, watched The Darkest Hour with Pete last night &
then got to bed at a decent hour but still feel SO tired this morning.
Had a good visit in 2nd Life this morning & got myself a car. Nice
old boat & love the sound of the engine ... brings back memories of
the 70s with my Mom's '73 Cadillac. I had my choice of colors &
chose blue. It's cool ... the headlights, taillights, & brake lights
are all functional & it's got a cool dash. Makes me wonder what I'd
get with a PAID subscription considering I've already managed to get a
free (for 1 month) house, a car, & cool clothes. I know if I pay I
can have much nice of all of the above ... I can live anywhere (as long
as I can afford the rent), I can buy ANY car I choose, & I can get
some REALLY NICE clothing ... I've seen it, I just couldn't afford it
since I didn't give the game my credit card number yet. Pay for an
online game ... hmmm ... well, it's still pretty damn cool & has
features the Sims 3 doesn't have & I'm a HUGE Sims 3 fan ... I've
given my credit card number to the Sims, so ... we'll see. I'm still
checking out the game as a whole. I figured I'd give it 1 month &
see how I feel about it. See if I want to rent a place for real by then
& trade in my old car here for a newer one, buy even nicer clothes than the freebies I've been gifted even though they're pretty nice, etc. I've seen the clothing stores around here ... damn! LCFD business meeting tomorrow.

Household:
Keep reusable shopping bags organized & accessible by storing themfolded in the trunk of your car or your coat closet. You'll see them when you leave to run errands or you'll always have them with you.
If you fell down yesterday, stand up today.
I'm not a big fan of FHA loans. The FHA loan is a little bit more expensive on the interest rate side & somewhat more expensive on the fee side than a conventional mortgage. Plus, the lending guidelines are a little more lenient, & you don't need much for a down payment. Taken together, this means people take out an FHA because they were advised poorly or they don't have any money, which means they shouldn't be buying a house at all.
Income tax has made more liars out of the American people than golf has.
Picayune:
Of little value : paltry; also : petty or small-minded.
In the 19th century, in Louisiana & other Southern states, a picayune was a small coin (specifically, a Spanish half real) with a low monetary value. The coin's name derives from picaioun, a word that means "small coin" in Occitan (a language spoken in southern France). It ultimately derives from the Occitan word pica, which means "to jingle" & mimics the sound of coins jingling. The real as a monetary unit fell out of use, however, & "picayune" joined "2 bits" in the category of small amounts of money whose names eventually came to be used instead for things that are paltry & small.
