I had a good day yesterday, but I got really distracted with something that took a lot of time. I had fun though. :) After blogging yesterday I crocheted for bit, checked facebook & took my game turns & it was there on facebook that I got so distracted. The Sims 3 posted that the 2nd edition of their free e-magazine available via iTunes in the Newsstand. I downloaded both (since I missed the 1st one) & ended up reading both of them. One of my favorite features was a guide on how to build a garden. The 1st issue had a guide for building a Chinese
garden (shown both day & night ... 2nd & 4th pics) which I added to my dream home on the right side of the house. I also added a nice double door looking out into the garden at the end of the hall & the pathway leads right to the door (3rd pic). In the front yard I added a French garden, shown day & night & from my hobby room window (5th - 7th pics). When I finished adding the gardens to my dream home in
Sims I hand knitted for a little bit & finished the bottom ribbing on the sweater I'm making & then started the neck ribbing. I took the dogs out & then Pete was home from work so we started our nighttime routine. My Sim-self had a good day too. She worked on her athletic skill & became thin already! 1 day of working out & she's thin! I wish it worked that well in real life. :) I made my Sim-self look just like me &
now I remember how good I looked back when I was thinner. She cleaned the house & then cooked waffles for breakfast. She paid the bills, spent time with the pets, had a tofu dog for dinner, showered, & went to bed. Back in real life, This morning
was very different from anything I normally do. I had joined a Meetup
group a while ago that's a group of crocheters & knitters in my
local area. The 1st meetup I decided to
go to was today. I woke up & took the dogs out, immediately showered, checked my AT&T homepage, uploaded the pics to this blog & then headed out to Farmersville to meet them for lunch at Sugar Hill Country Kitchens & then we walked a block over to the Fiber Circle yarn store. Now I have yarn. I literally have a yarn store's worth of yarn because I used to HAVE a yarn store & when it closed I kept all the yarn. I don't
need yarn ... but I WANT yarn. We call it YAS (Yarn Acquisition Syndrome) & I have it BAD. A photo of all of us in the yarn store is shown below (8th pic). The yarn I came home with is shown in the 9th pic. On my way home from Farmersville I glanced over at the time while I was driving over the bridge & noticed that Kyle gets out of school in just a few minutes. How convenient since I'm going to be driving
right past the school. I pulled in & got in the line, texted him & asked him if he wanted a ride since I was literally THERE already. I'm back home now, it's going on 5:p & I've done NOTHING other than take the dogs out this morning, speed shower, & check the news headlines on AT&T, & had breakfast. Yeah, I had fun today ... I shopped, I socialized, but I don't think I'm going to get much of anything else done at
all. This is why as much as I hate never going out or meeting people, I usually don't because I never understood how people do it & still clean their houses & get stuff done. I woke up at 9:30a ... it's now after 4:30p ... that's over 7 hours. ::: POOF! ::: We won't talk about the $75 that also went ::: POOF! ::: (I really should NEVER be in a yarn store unsupervised). That 9th pic you see of the yarn I bought there ... $67. The other $8.50 was breakfast. If I really want
to beat myself up I'd add fuel costs & wear & tear on the vehicle ... which reminds me, I also spent money on a car wash on the way there so my truck looked nice & shiny clean when I met all these new people. OK, a little over $80. Forget the lack of time ... I can't AFFORD to leave the house! $80+?! Luckily this meetup was unique. They normally just meet & knit. This "field trip" is rare. Phew! I did love it though. :) I walked into that yarn store, saw how wide it was ... how deep it was ... and there was a 2nd floor! My brain went into yarn overload. Endorphin overload in 3 ... 2 ... 1! My Sim-self started her morning by chatting with someone on the Internet & finally met someone new (just like I did this morning), then cleaned her house & cooked waffles for breakfast. Back IRL, LCFD Business Meeting tonight & tomorrow is my 2nd favorite day of the year ... the 1st day of spring! Tomorrow I add Gardening to my schedule on Monday afternoons.
Acetic acid that makes up vinegar neutralizes many types of jellyfish venom. Rinsing with cool freshwater will only make the pain worse, & despite what you may have seen on sit-coms, there's no evidence that urine is an effective treatment.

It's a bad-news place. I was treated by their orthopedic specialist Dr. Mandrake Curvy. And I said - that's right, Dr. Mandrake Curvy. And I told Mandrake I threw out my back & he said, "You shouldn't do that, they're hard to get." -Johnny Carson 1974
King has sold well over 350 million copies of the 49 novels he has produced to date - now that's scary!
On this day in 2005, John DeLorean, an innovative
auto industry executive and founder of the DeLorean Motor Company, dies
at the age of 80 in New Jersey. In the early 1980s,
the DeLorean Motor Company produced just one model, the DMC-12, a sleek
sports car with gull-wing doors that opened upward, before going
bankrupt. John DeLorean was charged with drug trafficking in an effort
to raise funds for his struggling company. Approximately 9,000 DMC-12s
in total were produced. The car later became a collector's item and
received a big publicity boost when it was featured as a time-travel
machine in the "Back to the Future" movies starring Michael J. Fox.
DeLorean
was born on January 6, 1925, and grew up in Detroit. He worked as an
engineer for the Packard Motor Company and later moved to General
Motors, where he was credited with developing the Pontiac GTO, the first
"muscle car," which launched in 1964. DeLorean quickly rose through the
ranks at GM, becoming the youngest general manager of the Pontiac
division and then several years later, the youngest head of Chevrolet.
He earned a reputation for corporate innovation and was also known for
his flashy, jet-set lifestyle.
In 1973, DeLorean resigned from
GM and eventually formed his eponymous company. With investments from
the British government, as well as celebrities including Johnny Carson
and Sammy Davis Jr., DeLorean opened a factory in Dunmurry, Ireland,
that in 1981 began producing his dream sports car: the DMC-12, which
carried a then-hefty price tag of $25,000. However, the company soon ran
into financial trouble, due in part to slow sales in the United States.
On October 19, 1982, the British government announced the plant would
be shuttered. That same day, DeLorean was arrested on drug trafficking
charges in Los Angeles. Several months earlier, DeLorean had been
approached by a former drug smuggler turned federal informant and the
two men engaged in a series of discussions about a deal involving
cocaine smuggling and money laundering that would potentially earn
enough money to save DeLorean's company. During the highly publicized
trial that followed, DeLorean maintained he had been set up by the
government. A jury acquitted him in August 1984.

Robert Lee Brock, a convicted felon serving time in Virginia, sued himself for $5m. He claimed that he violated his own civil liberties by getting drunk & committing a crime. Since he was jailed & couldn't earn a living, Brock argued that the state should pay. Needless to say, the case was dismissed.
